WWE Wrestlemania 40 Breaks All Time Gate Record, Check It Out
The Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia will hold the two-night event that will be WrestleMania XL. WrestleMania is the biggest sports entertainment showcase on planet Earth. It is where the best of the best come together on a night that has been described as the Super Bowl of sports entertainment. The WWE announced the venue for WrestleMania 40 two years prior to the event. This is also going to be the first time since WrestleMania 30 in 2014 that the WWE uses Roman numerals in WrestleMania‘s title. More on that later, but for now, the record for WWE‘s all-time gate has just been broken by WrestleMania 40. It should come as no surprise that 2023 has proved to be the turning point for the billion-dollar enterprise in terms of ticket sales. The previous record stood at a mammoth $21.6 million, which was set at WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles.
Triple H is a marketing genius. With his shrewd positioning of the brand on digital media, this number should not have come as a surprise. The WWE‘s flagship event is stacked to the bottom, and the Tribal Chief is expected to remain champion till then. This is just the beginning for world wrestling entertainment, as fan engagement packages, meet and greets, on-site ticket sales, and merchandise at the venue will all add to their bank account. Very few tickets were available at the time this article was published. This just goes on to show you that we live in the world of digital media, where the biggest shows get picked up earlier than expected. Last week, All Elite wrestling was making all the noise with their All In pay per view in London and how, with just the click of a button, Triple H brought in his equaliser. The fans expect nothing but their dream matches to be on the card, and it will be a round-off for the WWE in their 40th edition of their flagship show, WrestleMania.
The rapid ticket sales also show us how the fans are buying into the storylines that the company has presented of late. The bloodline, even though shattered after Jey Uso’s exit, will want to take over the entire show of shows, while the Imperium will want to send their boss marching to the ring and leave no stone unturned for him to reign supreme at the showcase of the immortals. WrestleMania XL will also reportedly have Edge’s final match, and this is one more reason why the pre-sales have been so strong for the WWE.
While many superstars will not get their chance to shine on the card, the NXT North American champion will look to climb the next step of the ladder and prove that he is the prince of the box office and why the hype is real.
