WWE Reveals Plan For Saudi Arabia 2023: All You Need To Know
Wrestling fans, here is another main event of WWE in 2023. The event will take place on November 4 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We already had the date for this event in July but now the dates are confirmed by other sources too. WWE had already paid a visit to Saudi Arabia this year, and now again the company has plans to have one more event in the Kingdom before the year ends. For the upcoming WWE Crown Jewel Premium Live Events, WWE has selected the nation’s capital, Riyadh.
The WWE’s ongoing commitment to bring high-quality wrestling entertainment to Saudi Arabia is part of a 10-year strategic partnership that was first announced in 2018 between the WWE and the Saudi Ministry of Sport. This groundbreaking alliance was expanded on November 4, 2019, when WWE formed an extended partnership with the Saudi General Authority for Entertainment. The terms of this expanded deal run until 2027 and include two Premium Live Events (PLE) in the Kingdom each year.
The upcoming Crown Jewel 2023 marks the 10th event under this expansive deal and coincides with the fourth anniversary of its extension, adding an extra layer of significance to what promises to be an electrifying night of wrestling action. While the venue for this year’s Crown Jewel event has yet to be announced, past WWE events in Riyadh have been hosted in various high-profile locations. These have included King Saud University Stadium for Crown Jewel 2018, King Fahd International Stadium for Crown Jewel 2019, Mohammed Abdu Arena for both Super ShowDown 2020 and Crown Jewel 2021, and most recently, Mrsool Park for Crown Jewel 2022.
Due to the long-haul flight required to reach the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, WWE will likely tape the go-home SmackDown episode the week before the event. The taping is currently scheduled for October 27 at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, allowing the roster ample time to make the journey overseas.
WWE last graced Saudi soil in May of this year for the spectacular Night of Champions event held at the Jeddah Super Dome in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. That star-studded night was headlined by Brock Lesnar’s thrilling victory over Cody Rhodes and saw Seth Rollins defeat AJ Styles to become the inaugural WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Additionally, the tag team of Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn successfully defended their Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles against Solo Sikoa, while Roman Reigns retained his Undisputed WWE Universal Champion title.
Though details about the matchups and featured wrestlers for Crown Jewel 2023 remain under wraps, expectations are high given the calibre of talent and the entertainment WWE has consistently provided in its previous Saudi Arabian shows.
