WWE Reacted Very ‘Casually’ After Hearing LA Knight’s COVID News
WWE informed fans and media of the wrestler’s withdrawal before SmackDown and the weekend’s non-televised events.
LA Knight has become one of the most sought-after talents by WWE fans. The year 2023 is very beneficial for his career and people want to see him perform in each of the SmackDown and non-televised shows in which he has been previously announced.
Last Friday he did not appear on Friday Night SmackDown because LA Knight contracted COVID-19, information that was released after the show and explained the reason for his absence. LA Knight was also unable to work the weekend’s non-televised events for the same reason and WWE made fans aware of this, even offering refunds to attendees.
This way of working for WWE is not common, since it usually happens when it is a very prominent absence, such as Roman Reigns today. This shows that WWE is taking LA Knight very seriously, although it is also being said that it could be a new strategy for TKO Holdings Group. This was mentioned by Dave Meltzer, Wrestling Observer journalist, in his last radio show.
“Normally, WWE will only announce a no-show if it’s a wrestler on the level of Roman Reigns or Seth Rollins, which tells you how highly they think of Knight,” Meltzer said. “WWE also informed the media Friday night about Knight and I can’t remember that being done in the past either. I don’t know if this is a new policy with the new owners because anywhere else form of entertainment, fans and the media would be notified in advance of a star’s non-absence.”
LA Knight’s loss coincides with his current history with The Miz. Two weeks ago, on Friday Night SmackDown, Knight defeated The Miz in a singles match and indicated that he intended to go for one of the WWE titles.
