WWE NXT Results & Report: Winners, Losers And Analysis – 22 August 2023

2 years ago By Jhon Woug

NXT Heatwave opened to some great matches as some rivalries were touched upon once again, and this has paved the way for future matchups and alliances. The results of the matches that took place on August 22 are:

  1. ILJA DRAGUNOV vs. TRICK WILLIAMS

Trick William has a very bright future in business. The man gave it his all but still came up short against one of the very best in NXT. Dragunov is one of the toughest and most technical wrestlers in the business, and he sealed the victory via a diving low forearm smash.

Dragunov will now look to cement himself as the No. 1 contender for the NXT title.

Winner: Ilja Dragunov

  1. AVA VS IVY NILE

Ava was in the driver’s seat for the entire match. Her power moves have been well regarded as some of the cleanest in NXT. But as life is, Ava took one wrong step, which found her submitting to a dragon sleeper by Ivy Nile.

Winner: Ivy Nile

  1. Nathan Frazer vs. Noam Dar

Nathan Frazer put up a 5-star performance as he picked up the victory over Noam Dar with a Phoenix Splash that Seth Rollins would have been proud of. It must be noted that Dragon Lee being at ringside and cuddling the Heritage Cup may have caused a distraction, but take nothing away from Nathan Frazer, who gave the fans what they came for.

Winner: Nathan Frazer

  1. RHEA RIPLEY & DOMINIK MYSTERIO VS LYRA VALKYRIA & DRAGON LEE

Rhea Ripley and Dirty Dom took on Dragon Lee with Lyra Valkyria. The duo have been in the news for the entire year and have bad news coming as Dragon Lee gears up for a rematch for the NXT North American Title. Dragon Lee rolled up Dirty Dom for the cover and made his point clear to Mysterio Jr. that he was coming for him. Raquel Rodriguez was also seen testing Mami’s patience during the match.

Winners: Lyra Valkyria and Dragon Lee

  1. Baron Corbin vs. Von Wagner

This match never got underway, and we were robbed of a classic that could have been. The bell never rang, and a brawl caused the match to be stopped. Bron Breaker got his nose in the way, teaming up with the Lone Wolf. This can be termed a wasted opportunity, as the fans were expecting something big at Heatwave. Nonetheless, this rivalry will surely be catapulted to the next level.

Winners: The match never started.

  1. Carmelo Heyas vs. Wes Lee

A suicide dive from Wes Lee changed the complexion of this match as the momentum shifted from there. Wes Lee gassed out all his resources early on and was left with a hopeful attempt. The champion, though not at his peak, looked the part as he picked up the win via pinball. This match will happen again in the future with the history that these two have.

Winner: Carmelo Hayes.
