Will Dustin Rhodes Return to WWE? His Sister Teil Speaks Out

The wrestling world continues to speculate about the future of AEW star Dustin Rhodes, a former six-time WWE veteran. Teil Runnels, the sister of Dustin and Cody Rhodes, recently shared her perspective on the possibility of her older brother re-signing with the WWE.

Teil’s Uncertainty

In an interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter, Runnels expressed her uncertainty about Dustin’s future, given his current contractual obligations to AEW.

“I don’t know,” Runnels confessed. “I do know what his [Dustin’s] contract is at AEW and that he’s still under contract there. It would shock me if they ever had another match together, because the one that kind of really made that company [AEW Double or Nothing 2019], it was great and it was perfect, and I don’t think they’ll revisit that.”

While Cody made his return to WWE in 2022 after spending three years in AEW, Dustin has stayed on with AEW as both a coach and in-ring competitor. Despite their separate professional paths, both brothers continue to cast significant shadows on the wrestling industry.

History in the Ring

Dustin Rhodes, now 54, has a storied history with WWE, with six separate stints between 1990 and 2019. While many remember his spellbinding persona as ‘Goldust’, the eldest Rhodes sibling has shown his versatility as a performer across multiple promotions. His current role in AEW, however, seems to align more closely with his career’s sunset, making his return to WWE increasingly uncertain.

The Runnels family’s wrestling legacy extends far beyond Cody and Dustin. Their father, the late great Dusty Rhodes, is regarded as one of wrestling’s most charismatic and beloved figures. The family’s dedication to the wrestling industry remains steadfast, despite varying professional paths.

Remembering Dusty

To honor Dusty Rhodes’s memory and his commitment to supporting youth in the wrestling industry, Michelle Runnels, Teil’s mother, founded The Dusty Rhodes Foundation in 2022. This non-profit organization aims to inspire and support young athletes in underserved communities.

For those who wish to contribute to this legacy and offer their support, donations can be made to The Dusty Rhodes Foundation.

While the WWE universe holds its breath for a possible return of Dustin Rhodes, his sister’s words offer little certainty. The ever-changing landscape of professional wrestling is such that definitive answers are rarely possible, leaving fans and industry insiders to speculate and hope for the best.

Whatever Dustin Rhodes’s future may be, his contributions to the world of wrestling, like those of his family, will always be celebrated, and his influence will continue to be felt both in and out of the ring. Whether his path leads him back to WWE or keeps him firmly in his current AEW role, he remains an integral part of wrestling’s rich tapestry.
