UFC 295: Jamahal Hill On The Jiri Prochazka vs. Alex Pereira Light Heavyweight Title Fight

1 years ago By Sports Desk

Jamahal Hill recently shared his thoughts on the Jiri Prochazka vs. Alex Pereira Light Heavyweight Title Fight at UFC 295. Hill has officially vacated the light heavyweight title and is looking forward to seeing who claims the championship.

The 205-pound weight class in UFC has been in turmoil since its greatest fighter, Jon Jones, vacated it in early 2020. There have been four different champions since then, with a potential fifth champion to be crowned in November. Prochazka and Pereira will clash for the vacant title at UFC 295 on November 11 in Madison Square Garden. That same night, Jones will look to defend his recently acquired heavyweight crown against Stipe Miocic.

While Jiri Prochazka held the title before Jamahal Hill, a nasty shoulder injury forced ‘Denisa’ to vacate the championship. Hill’s fate was remarkably similar to that of the previous champion. ‘Sweet Dreams’ suffered an Achilles heel injury during a casual game of basketball and will require surgery. Like Prochazka, Hill also earned the title by defeating Glover Teixeira via a unanimous decision at UFC 283.

Jiri Prochazka recently revealed that he has recovered from his injury and is back in training. With Alex Pereira coming off a hard-fought split decision victory over Jan Blachowicz, it made sense to match them up for the vacant title. On November 11th, either Prochazka will become a two-time champion or Pereira will secure two-weight champion status as the former middleweight title holder.

In a recent video uploaded to his YouTube channel, Jamahal Hill discussed his former belt going home with someone else. Stating that he’d be excited to see who wins, Hill admitted that it’s an odd feeling. The title fight would mean that he’s officially no longer a UFC champion.

Jamahal Hill admitted that he always planned to defend his title against both title contenders. He also claimed that he was sorely disappointed that he wouldn’t get an opportunity to face both of them. The reason is that one of them will eliminate the other from the title picture. However, Jamahal Hill still plans on getting his fights. Interestingly, ‘Sweet Dreams’ wonders if an exceptional deal could be cracked. One can only assume he means to fight them regardless of who sits atop the 205-pound throne.

Jamahal Hill also revealed that his injury is healing well and he’s doing physical therapy twice a day. Meanwhile, he hopes that Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka remain active and make sure their marketable opponents for him. The former light heavyweight champion added that he will be in attendance for Prochazka vs. Pereira at Madison Square Garden in New York, and plans on reminding the winner that he’s not going anywhere.

Jamahal Hill is currently on a four-fight win streak. Hill last beat Teixeira at UFC 283 after dispatching Thiago Santos via fourth-round TKO in August 2022. Before that, Jamahal Hill recorded first-round knockout wins against Johnny Walker and Jimmy Crute. Only time will tell if he is able to get back in the 205-pound title picture on his return.

Meanwhile, fans are supremely excited about the Alex Pereira-Jiri Prochazka fight. Given their incredible striking abilities, many expect the two light heavyweights to put on a blockbuster for the fans.
