All Royal Rumble Winners Till 2023: Names, Location, Duration And More

The Royal Rumble is one of the most popular and anticipated events in professional wrestling, created by the world’s leading promotion, WWE. First held in 1988, the event takes its name from the iconic Royal Rumble match – a battle royal featuring 30 wrestlers who enter the ring at timed intervals. Over more than 30 years, the Royal Rumble has cemented its status as one of WWE’s “Big Five” pay-per-view events, alongside other flagship events like WrestleMania, SummerSlam and Survivor Series. The original concept for the Royal Rumble match is credited to WWE Hall of Famer Pat Patterson, while the event itself was spearheaded by the then-World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE). The inaugural event was held on January 24, 1988, at the Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario and was broadcast live on the USA Network. While that first Royal Rumble only featured 20 wrestlers and lasted 33 minutes, it began a new WWE tradition that has thrilled fans year after year. Today, the Royal Rumble takes place every January, marking the unofficial start of the “Road to WrestleMania” as the winner of the Rumble match gets a guaranteed title shot at that year’s Showcase of the Immortals. Over nearly four decades, the event has been hosted in various major arenas around the United States as well as Canada, drawing tens of thousands of impassioned members of the WWE Universe. Besides the signature battle royal, the Royal Rumble card also showcases other marquee matches, like title defenses. With its chaotic and unpredictable nature featuring non-stop action, surprise entrants, dramatic eliminations and historic victories, the Royal Rumble pay-per-view has deservedly earned a place as one of the most entertaining shows WWE puts on. It never fails to deliver jaw-dropping moments that capture the imagination of wrestling fans everywhere. Kevin Nash Says He Is Not Going To Royal Rumble To Eliminate LA Knight

A WWE legend, who had his last solo match against Triple H and lost, has made it clear that he won’t be returning to wrestling. Kevin Nash’s final solo WWE match took place at the TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs 2011 Premium Live Event. He faced Triple H in a Sledgehammer Ladder match and lost to his real-life best friend that day. Three years later, Nash participated in the Royal Rumble match. Recently, Nash talked about potentially entering the Royal Rumble match to confront CM Punk if he returned to WWE. However, on his latest podcast, Kliq THIS, Nash stated that he was only joking and had no intention of making a wrestling comeback. “After that match, I woke up the next day feeling minimal soreness, you know. I’m currently working on getting back in shape. But I promise you, all I want to do is hit the gym; I have no plans to step into the ring,” Nash explained. Nash also joked about a conversation he had with Triple H regarding WWE Superstar LA Knight. LA Knight had taken a shot at Nash on TV, and Nash playfully mentioned discussing Knight’s contract with Triple H. “Paul (Triple H) told me, ‘I don’t understand this kid…’ ‘Kid? This guy is my age. Are you more concerned about his fan appeal fading faster than his hairline?’ Unless you’re just being ridiculous, those sunglasses are not something you should wear. Paul said, ‘We’re so far apart that the only way I’d sign this guy is as a nostalgia act.’ ‘Like a legends deal?’ ‘Yeah, he’s doing what we’ve already seen. I can’t pay him the same as guys who are doing something new and original.’” He continued, “There were rumors that I might enter the Royal Rumble to settle the score with LA Knight as if I’m trying to make a comeback at 64. Remember when Hunter returned at 45 and tore his pec? The other day, I comfortably lifted 275 pounds for eight reps on an incline machine, with no strain, and no pain. I woke up the next day with some soreness. I’m getting back in shape, but I want to emphasize that I’m not planning to return to the ring.” Nash’s last in-ring appearance dates back to 2016 when he defeated Kennedy Kendrick at the Legends of Wrestling Entertainment Dome Show in Miami, Florida. It’s highly improbable that he’ll step back into the wrestling ring.
