Seth Rollins vs. Shinsuke Nakamura Is Announced As ‘Last Man Standing’ For WWE Fastlane 2023

8 months ago By Sports Desk

WWE has just dropped a massive announcement for its fans for the upcoming WWE Fastlane 2023. Seth Rollins will put his World Heavyweight title on the line against the “King of Strong Style,” Shinsuke Nakamura, in a fiercely anticipated last-man-standing match at WWE Fastlane 2023. Both superstars have a rich history of delivering memorable matches, and when the stipulation is such that one has to incapacitate the other to the point they can’t answer a ten count, the stakes and intensity are ratcheted up several notches. Fans from all corners are already buzzing, speculating, and predicting outcomes for this epic encounter. One thing is certain: Fastlane 2023 is set to be a night that will leave an indelible mark in the annals of WWE history.

The air was thick with tension as Seth Rollins, also known as ‘The Visionary’, took center stage on the September 25 episode of RAW. His message was clear: the games have gone far enough. Rollins, with pride and gold on the line, threw down the gauntlet, challenging the charismatic ‘King of Strong Style’, Shinsuke Nakamura, to a ‘Last Man Standing’ match for the World Heavyweight Championship at the upcoming Fastlane PPV event.

Nakamura, never one to back down from a challenge, accepted with conviction. However, his acceptance wasn’t just about the match. In a rather audacious statement, he claimed that the fight would be so intense and brutal that Rollins’ own daughter would be ashamed of witnessing her father’s defeat. To Nakamura, Fastlane would mark the end of Rollins’ reign as the champion.

This altercation didn’t arise out of the blue. The roots of this feud trace back to the August 21 episode of RAW. During a video segment, Nakamura revealed his knowledge about Rollins’ back injury and had been exploiting this vulnerability ever since, much to the chagrin of the champion. Rollins, on the other hand, maintained that his injury, rather than being his Achilles’ heel, had made him stronger, more resilient. He boldly claimed that every fight might be his last, but Fastlane won’t be the end of the road for him. As the night concluded, WWE confirmed the intense clash between the two titans for Fastlane.

But the story of Rollins and Nakamura is not a recent one. Their history is laden with challenges, victories, and intense battles. Their first significant clash occurred when Rollins held the WWE Intercontinental Championship, and Nakamura was the proud bearer of the WWE United States Championship. Both champions squared off in a high-stakes Champion vs. Champion match at Survivor Series. Rollins emerged victorious in that encounter.

The animosity between the two intensified in 2018. Nakamura, eyes set on the grand prize, challenged Rollins for the coveted WWE Universal Championship at Fastlane. Despite Nakamura’s valiant efforts, Rollins retained his title. Their rivalry reached a boiling point at Extreme Rules, where the two gladiators battled inside the menacing structure of Hell in a Cell. Again, Rollins stood tall.

The following year saw both superstars as part of the same team in the Survivor Series elimination match. Nakamura, in a display of cunning and skill, eliminated Rollins, leading to a fallout and setting the stage for another confrontation. The two locked horns at Elimination Chamber, where, in a surprising turn of events, Nakamura secured the victory.

In 2020, both were drafted to SmackDown, ensuring their paths would continue to cross. By 2021, their saga took another twist. Both participated in the high-risk, high-reward Money in the Bank ladder match. It was Rollins, once again, who climbed the ladder of success.

However, 2022 marked a fresh chapter in their storied rivalry. Nakamura, now donned with the moniker “King Nakamura”, rekindled his feud with Rollins. Their battles were numerous, with one of the most memorable being the clash for the WWE King of the Ring crown. Nakamura showcased his royalty by claiming the crown and besting Rollins.

Fast forward to 2023, Rollins’ win over Nakamura at Payback 2023 PLE for the World Heavyweight title added fuel to the fire. The feud reignited with Nakamura blindsiding Rollins post a tag team match on RAW’s August 7 episode.

As we gear up for Fastlane, fans across the globe are split down the middle. Some rally behind the resilience of Rollins, while others chant for the enigmatic Nakamura. Their journey, riddled with triumphs, defeats, and betrayals, culminates at Fastlane. With so much history between them and with the World Heavyweight Championship hanging in the balance, one thing is certain: Fastlane 2023 promises to be a spectacle for the ages.
