Titled “American Nightmare: Becoming Cody Rhodes,” the two-hour film chronicles the life and career of the talented wrestler and executive, slated to premiere on July 31.

The documentary promises an unfiltered and unedited account of Rhodes’ journey, capturing the highs and lows of his time with WWE and his subsequent path to self-discovery. Peacock announces release-date along with trailer of Cody Rhodes documentary

“American Nightmare: Becoming Cody Rhodes” is a Peacock Original that promises to deliver an intimate and unfiltered account of Cody Rhodes’ remarkable journey. Narrated by his close friend, actor Stephen Amell, the documentary is set to premiere on Monday, July 31, via Peacock. As Cody Rhodes stepped out of his father’s legendary shadow and risked everything by leaving WWE in 2016, he became “The American Nightmare,” determined to make a name for himself and forge his path in the wrestling world.

The documentary features a star-studded lineup of Executive Producers, including WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, WWE Executive Producer & Chief of Global Television Distribution Kevin Dunn, Executive Vice President of WWE Television Chris Kaiser, WWE Vice President of Television Strategy Chris Chambers, WWE Senior Vice President & Executive Producer of Documentaries Ben Houser, and Cody Rhodes himself.

In an intriguing revelation, the trailer unveils McMahon’s personal involvement, showcasing the WWE Chairman traveling to Rhodes’ home in an effort to convince him to return to WWE.

The documentary also explores Rhodes’ quest for self-discovery, both outside his late father’s shadow and beyond WWE’s confines. As his wife, Brandi, articulates, Rhodes embarks on the mission of “building it” himself, leading him to explore the independent circuit and later, ROH, Impact, and NJPW. These experiences eventually culminate in Rhodes becoming an instrumental figure in the creation of AEW, a pivotal moment in his career.
