Peacock, the home of the WWE Network, is set to release a compelling documentary on one of wrestling’s most enigmatic figures, Cody Rhodes. Titled “American Nightmare: Becoming Cody Rhodes,” the two-hour film chronicles the life and career of the talented wrestler and executive, slated to premiere on July 31.
The documentary promises an unfiltered and unedited account of Rhodes’ journey, capturing the highs and lows of his time with WWE and his subsequent path to self-discovery. As Rhodes transcends his family’s wrestling legacy and navigates the world of independent wrestling, Ring of Honor (ROH), Impact, New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), and eventually co-creating All Elite Wrestling (AEW), the film unveils his relentless pursuit of identity and redemption.

Narrated by his close friend, actor Stephen Amell, the documentary is set to premiere on Monday, July 31, via Peacock. As Cody Rhodes stepped out of his father’s legendary shadow and risked everything by leaving WWE in 2016, he became “The American Nightmare,” determined to make a name for himself and forge his path in the wrestling world.
The documentary features a star-studded lineup of Executive Producers, including WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, WWE Executive Producer & Chief of Global Television Distribution Kevin Dunn, Executive Vice President of WWE Television Chris Kaiser, WWE Vice President of Television Strategy Chris Chambers, WWE Senior Vice President & Executive Producer of Documentaries Ben Houser, and Cody Rhodes himself.
In an intriguing revelation, the trailer unveils McMahon’s personal involvement, showcasing the WWE Chairman traveling to Rhodes’ home in an effort to convince him to return to WWE.
