NXT Star Bron Brekker Claims His Spear Is Better Than Roman Reigns’

1 years ago By Jhon Woug

Roman Reigns has consistently wielded his spell as a prominent component of his arsenal, dating back to his days as the powerhouse of The Shield over a decade ago. However, a rising star within WWE’s ranks, Bron Breakker, believes he possesses an even more formidable version of this maneuver. The 25-year-old, son of WWE Hall of Famer Rick Steiner, has already clinched the NXT Championship twice and has dispatched numerous adversaries with his spear, a technique deeply rooted in his background in collegiate and professional football.

While acknowledging Roman Reigns as the WWE Universal Champion and “The Tribal Chief,” Breakker asserts his confidence in the superiority of his spell. According to him, when he executes this move, his opponents do not rise easily, and he endeavours to inflict maximum pain. Breakker maintains that a discernible disparity exists when comparing his spell to Reigns’, as evident when reviewing the footage. He highlights his exceptional athletic abilities, backed by impressive combined statistics, as further evidence of his superiority in this regard. In a recent interview with Stick to Wrestling, Breakker expressed his conviction: “Mine’s clearly better.”

In the upcoming NXT No Mercy event in Bakersfield, California, Breakker will return to the ring to face Baron Corbin, while Reigns, who hasn’t competed since SummerSlam, is rumoured to defend his WWE Universal Championship at Crown Jewel in November. The question remains: between these two superstars, who do you believe boasts the superior spell? Could his comment hint at a possible appearance by him on the Raw after next year’s Wrestlemania to confront Roman? Time will tell.

To provide some context about Brekker, born on October 24th, 1997, Bronson Rechsteiner hails from a wrestling lineage, being the offspring of Rick Steiner and the nephew of Scott Steiner. Wrestling is deeply ingrained in his family heritage.

Rechsteiner, who signed with WWE in February 2021 under the ring name Bron Breakker, made his televised debut on September 14, defeating LA Knight. Subsequently, during the September 21 episode of NXT, Breakker had his first tag team match, partnering with Tommaso Ciampa to defeat Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland. Another successful tag match followed on October 19, when Breakker and Ciampa triumphed over the Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson and James Drake).

Breakker secured his second singles victory on November 2, defeating Andre Chase decisively. In November, he participated in a series of triple threat matches for the NXT Championship, which was held by his former tag team partner Tommaso Ciampa. These matches also involved a third competitor, Sami Zayn.

On December 5 at WarGames, Breakker teamed up with Carmelo Hayes, Grayson Waller, and Tony D’Angelo as “Team 2.0” to defeat Ciampa, Knight, Johnny Gargano, and Pete Dunne, known as “Team Black & Gold,” in a WarGames match. Breakker’s pivotal moment came less than a year after his televised debut, on January 4, 2022, at NXT: New Year’s Evil, where he defeated Tommaso Ciampa to become the new NXT Champion.

His first title defence occurred on Vengeance Day, where he emerged victorious against Santos Escobar. Breakker then had a successful team-up with Ciampa on the March 1 episode of NXT, defeating The Dirty Dawgz (Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode). This victory translated to their main roster debut on the March 7 episode of Raw, where Breakker and Ciampa secured another win.

At Roadblock, Ziggler defeated Breakker and Ciampa in a Triple Threat Match, ending Breakker’s initial NXT Championship reign. However, two days later on Raw, Breakker bounced back, defeating Ziggler to claim the NXT Championship for a second time. His reign continued with a win against Gunther on the following day’s episode of NXT.

Breakker’s storyline escalated as he feuded with Joe Gacy, who had kidnapped Breakker’s father, Rick Steiner. Their rivalry culminated in a match at Spring Breakin’, where Breakker emerged victorious. The feud persisted, leading to a rematch at In Your House, featuring the stipulation that the NXT Championship could change hands via disqualification. Breakker managed to avoid disqualification and defeat Gacy.

His title defences continued, with Breakker successfully retaining the NXT Championship against Duke Hudson on the June 14 episode of NXT and Cameron Grimes at The Great American Bash. Following the match against Grimes, Breakker was attacked by JD McDonagh upon his debut.

The story progressed further as NXT UK Champion Tyler Bate confronted Breakker at Worlds Collide, resulting in a title unification match, which Breakker won. Subsequently, Breakker defended the title against Ilja Dragunov and JD McDonagh in a Triple Threat Match at Halloween Havoc.

On the November 15 episode of NXT, Breakker confronted Apollo Crews, setting up a championship match at NXT Deadline 2022, which Breakker won to retain his title. Following the match, he was attacked by Grayson Waller, a survivor of the Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge, setting the stage for a title match between Breakker and Waller at NXT New Year’s Evil 2023. Breakker won the match by countout after the ropes broke on Waller.

Their rivalry continued with a Steel Cage rematch at Vengeance Day on February 4, which Breakker won. Afterward, Breakker was confronted by Carmelo Hayes, leading to a title match at Stand & Deliver on April 1, where Hayes defeated Breakker, ending his 362-day reign as NXT Champion.

As for Roman Regins, he needs no introduction, but here’s a recap for some context.

In the world of professional wrestling, few stories are as compelling as that of Roman Reigns. From his humble beginnings as a member of The Shield to becoming the “Tribal Chief” and the face of WWE, Roman Reigns’ journey to dominance in the squared circle is a remarkable tale of hard work, perseverance, and evolution as a performer. This article explores the rise and dominance of Roman Reigns in WWE, tracing his career from its inception to his current status as one of the most iconic figures in sports entertainment.

  1. A Humble Beginning

Roman Reigns, born Leati Joseph Anoa’i on May 25, 1985, hails from the legendary Anoa’i wrestling family. His father is Sika Anoa’i, one half of the Wild Samoans tag team, and his cousin is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. With wrestling in his blood, it was almost inevitable that Roman would enter the world of sports entertainment.

Reigns made his WWE debut in 2012 as a member of The Shield, a dominant faction that also included Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. The Shield quickly made an impact with their unique look, tactical prowess, and brutal attacks. Roman’s size, athleticism, and undeniable charisma were evident even at this early stage of his career, setting the stage for his future rise to the top.

  1. The Shield Era

During The Shield’s tenure in WWE, Roman Reigns became known for his powerful spear, which would later become one of his signature moves. The group’s ability to dominate opponents both in and out of the ring quickly earned them a massive fan following. Roman, in particular, stood out as a future main-event player.

The Shield’s alliance with key WWE figures, such as CM Punk and Triple H, added depth to their storylines and provided valuable exposure to Reigns. The group played a pivotal role in several high-profile matches, including their battles against Evolution, a legendary faction led by Triple H and featuring Randy Orton and Batista.

  1. Solo Pursuits

As The Shield eventually disbanded, each member embarked on their own solo careers. Roman Reigns made his intentions clear—he was determined to become the top guy in WWE. His early solo feuds with the likes of Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton helped him establish himself as a singles competitor.

However, it was his feud with Brock Lesnar that truly catapulted Reigns into the main-event scene. Their epic encounters at WrestleMania 31 and WrestleMania 34 solidified Roman as a marquee player, even though he didn’t secure victory in either match.

  1. The Big Dog

Roman Reigns’ ascent to the top of WWE was not without its challenges. Despite his undeniable in-ring talent, his character was met with mixed reactions from the WWE Universe. While he was pushed as a top babyface (good guy), a vocal portion of the fanbase rejected him, often chanting “Boo-urns” instead of “Roman.”

In response to this adversity, WWE made a pivotal creative decision. Roman Reigns turned heel, aligning himself with his real-life cousin, Paul Heyman, and adopting the moniker “The Tribal Chief.” This character transformation was a game-changer, as it allowed Reigns to tap into his Samoan heritage and embrace a more authoritarian persona.

  1. The Tribal Chief Era

The Tribal Chief character breathed new life into Roman Reigns’ career. Suddenly, he was the most compelling figure in WWE, and his in-ring performances reached new heights. Reigns’ alliance with Paul Heyman added a layer of sophistication to his character, as Heyman’s masterful mic skills complemented Reigns’ imposing presence.

One of the defining moments of Reigns’ heel turn was his rivalry with his own cousin, Jey Uso. The emotional depth of their feud and the family dynamics at play made for captivating storytelling. Reigns’ ability to convey his character’s inner conflict and arrogance was a testament to his growth as a performer.

  1. The Universal Championship Reign

In August 2020, Roman Reigns returned to WWE after a brief hiatus and immediately set his sights on the Universal Championship. His championship win at Payback 2020 marked the beginning of a dominant reign that showcased his transformation into the ultimate heel.

Reigns’ title defences against formidable opponents like Jey Uso, Kevin Owens, and Daniel Bryan demonstrated his ability to carry the company as a top villain. His character’s catchphrase, “Acknowledge me,” became iconic, and fans couldn’t help but do just that. Roman Reigns was undeniably the centrepiece of WWE programming.

  1. The Head of the Table

As “The Tribal Chief” and the head of the Anoa’i family, Roman Reigns’ character continued to evolve. His manipulative and calculating nature, combined with his unmatched in-ring skills, made him an irresistible force in the WWE. He adopted a no-nonsense attitude, demanding respect and wielding his power with authority.

Reigns’ ability to engage in long-term storytelling was evident in his feuds with the likes of Cesaro and Edge. These feuds allowed him to display his versatility as a performer, proving that he could excel in any role—whether it be a dominant champion or a cunning strategist.

  1. Building an Empire

Roman Reigns’ dominance extended beyond the wrestling ring. He became a cultural phenomenon, transcending the world of professional wrestling. His appearances on talk shows, podcasts, and mainstream media outlets showcased his charisma and charm outside of WWE.

Reigns’ merchandise sales soared, and he became one of WWE’s top merchandise sellers. His presence on social media platforms, particularly Instagram and Twitter, allowed him to connect with fans on a personal level, further solidifying his status as a fan favourite—even as a heel.

  1. Conclusion

Roman Reigns’ journey from a member of The Shield to the pinnacle of WWE as “The Tribal Chief” is a testament to his talent, determination, and ability to evolve as a performer. His transformation into one of the most compelling heels in WWE history revitalised his career and solidified his legacy as a wrestling icon.

As Roman Reigns continues to dominate WWE, it’s clear that his impact on the industry will be felt for generations to come. His story serves as an inspiration to aspiring wrestlers and a reminder that with hard work, dedication, and the ability to adapt, one can reach the pinnacle of sports entertainment. Roman Reigns has not just risen to the top; he has cemented his place as one of the all-time greats in professional wrestling.

A potential feud between Bron Brekker and Roman Reigns would be a clash of generational talents. Brekker, the young and hungry NXT sensation, believes his spell outshines Reigns’ iconic move. The storyline could see Brekker challenging Reigns, the “Tribal Chief,” for supremacy. As two powerhouse athletes collide, it’s a battle of the past versus the future, experience versus raw potential. Their contrasting styles and personas would create intense promos and electrifying in-ring encounters, captivating fans as they vied for the ultimate prize and bragging rights. The collision of these two dominant forces could define a new era in WWE.
