Noche UFC: Valentina Shevchenko Plans To Be Ruthless Against Alexa Grasso
Valentina Shevchenko is not planning on going easy on Alexa Grasso when they face each other at Noche UFC. The former women’s flyweight queen is booked for a five-round rubber match against the reigning champion on September 16 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
In their previous meeting, Alexa Grasso shockingly defeated Valentina Shevchenko via fourth-round submission to win the title. The Kyrgyzstani native feels like she dominated the entire fight right until the mistake that led to her submission. Having gone through the tape of their previous fight at UFC 285, Shevchenko is more than confident about winning the rematch and reclaiming the women’s flyweight strap.
Going into the fight, Valentina Shevchenko is adopting a “no mercy” mentality. During a recent pre-fight press conference, ‘Bullet’ addressed her upcoming fight and outlined how she plans to win. The 35-year-old claimed that after rewatching their first encounter, she feels like she won the first three rounds. She admitted that she made a mistake in the last moment of the fourth round that allowed Grasso to go for the face crank.
She continued by stating that she isn’t thinking about UFC 285 and is completely focused on September 16. Setting her eyes on the prize, Shevchenko expressed how she has no intentions to look back and said:
“Now it’s strong energy… no mercy… I have no choice for sentimental things.”
Valentina Shevchenko was on an incredible nine-fight win streak before her loss to Alexa Grasso. The former women’s flyweight queen’s resume included wins over world-class opponents like Jessica Andrade, Taila Santos, and Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
Meanwhile, Alexa Grasso is coming off a five-fight win streak. The 30-year-old Mexican native has secured impressive wins over Valentina Shevchenko, Viviane Araujo, Maycee Barber, and Joanne Wood.
