Logan Paul Wants To Call Out Rey Mysterio For The United States Championship

1 years ago By Sports Desk

After a striking victory in the boxing ring, WWE superstar and former boxer Logan Paul is not hanging up his gloves or his wrestling boots any time soon. Recently, after clinching a disqualification win in the intense sixth round against Dillion Danis at Misfits Boxing: The Prime Card held on October 14, Paul made it clear that he’s ready to venture back into the squared circle. His target? None other than the esteemed WWE United States Champion, Rey Mysterio.

Ariel Helwani had the opportunity to chat with Logan Paul in a post-fight interview where the popular influencer and wrestler shared his aspirations. Paul confidently said, “My true passion, you’ll already know, I’m a WWE superstar. So, I’m moving back to the WWE. There are some championships that I want to get. I’ve got my eye on something. I got my eye on someone. I’m an American boy, and I want that U.S. title.” These words, brimming with determination and ambition, have now become the talk of the WWE community.

This isn’t the first time Paul has squared up with Mysterio. Back at WWE WrestleMania 38 Night One, which took place on April 2, 2022, Logan Paul teamed up with The Miz. Together, they faced off against Rey Mysterio and his son, Dominik. While it was a tag team match, Paul was on the winning side, giving him some bragging rights. He now carries the weight of that victory, which offers him a unique standpoint, even hinting that he has previously defeated the legendary Rey Mysterio, albeit in a tag team setup.

Following this bold challenge, Rey Mysterio was quick to respond. Through a tweet, he welcomed Paul’s challenge. However, wrestling aficionados know that Mysterio has his plate full at the moment. He’s deeply entangled with his Latino World Order ally, Santos Escobar. Given the existing dynamics and storylines, it seems that before Paul gets his desired title shot, he might have to face Escobar. The nature of the rematch between Mysterio and Escobar is still uncertain, but it’s clear that Paul’s road to the United States Championship won’t be a straight one.

Logan Paul’s endeavors don’t end with his pursuit of a WWE championship. He wears many hats. From being a global influencer, savvy businessman, and dedicated WWE superstar, to hosting podcasts, Paul is a modern-day renaissance man. However, his call out to Mysterio has brought him to the forefront of the WWE’s current landscape.

Rey Mysterio, a celebrated WWE Hall of Famer, has been in the thick of some intense feuds. Currently, he and the Latino World Order are embroiled in a battle with The Street Profits, which includes Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford. In addition to that, Bobby Lashley, the powerful former two-time WWE Champion, has been throwing his weight around. Lashley, having secured a singles win over Mysterio on the October 6 episode of WWE Friday Night Smackdown, is also in line for a possible title shot.

All these factors make the upcoming developments in WWE very unpredictable. While Mysterio has no shortage of contenders for his United States Championship, Logan Paul’s recent victory over Danis and his bold call-out cannot be dismissed. There’s a palpable excitement in the air as fans eagerly await WWE’s next move. Will they consider Paul’s appeal and place him as a top contender for the title?

Only time will tell how these events unfold. Logan Paul has undoubtedly made his mark in various arenas, but capturing the WWE United States Championship would be a feather in his already illustrious cap.
