IYO Sky Retains WWE Women’s Title At Smackdown, Beats Asuka

8 months ago By Sports Desk

In the latest SmackDown episode, IYO SKY successfully defended her WWE Women’s Championship against Asuka. She had won this prestigious title at SummerSlam by using her Money in the Bank contract to challenge Bianca Belair.

IYO SKY, with the second-longest Money in the Bank contract ever held by a woman, faced the challenging task of defending her championship on WWE SmackDown. Her opponent was none other than the formidable Japanese wrestler, Asuka.

One of the most highly anticipated matches on that night’s WWE SmackDown was the battle for the WWE Women’s Championship between IYO SKY and Asuka. Fans had been eagerly waiting to see these two superstars clash in the ring. However, the match wasn’t without its drama, as Charlotte Flair, Bayley, and Dakota Kai were present at ringside. This showdown marked the first time IYO SKY and Asuka squared off one-on-one, making it a dream match for SmackDown fans. The two wrestlers displayed remarkable agility and skill, countering each other’s moves effortlessly.

During the bout, Asuka extended a handshake as a sign of sportsmanship, but IYO SKY attempted to kick her hand away. Nevertheless, IYO SKY executed an impressive arm drag from the top rope, taking down Asuka.

IYO SKY then attempted a moonsault from the apron onto Asuka, who was on the floor. Unfortunately, she missed as Asuka quickly evaded. Back in the ring, the champion unleashed a series of maneuvers on her opponent, including two missile dropkicks, a stomp, and a Meteora, but Asuka managed to kick out at two. Asuka retaliated with a superplex, also resulting in a near fall. Later in the match, IYO SKY delivered a breathtaking moonsault from the top rope onto Asuka, who was outside the ring.

As the match neared its conclusion, the challenger locked in the Asuka Lock on the champion. However, Bayley intervened by placing IYO SKY’s leg on the ropes, forcing the hold to be broken. Charlotte Flair noticed Bayley’s interference and confronted her, sparking a brawl between the two.

Taking advantage of the chaos, IYO SKY struck Asuka’s back with a double knee strike while she was on the ropes. She then sealed the victory by hitting Asuka with her signature move, the Over-the-Moonsault, securing her title defense.

Now, the question remains: Who will be the one to challenge IYO SKY and potentially dethrone her as the champion? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
