Former AEW Star Jade Cargill Has Signed A Multi-year Contract With WWE
Jade Cargill, a rising star in professional wrestling and former champion at All Elite Wrestling (AEW), has officially joined WWE, as confirmed by WWE’s official social media channels and spokespersons speaking to ESPN.
Cargill, who recently held the TBS championship in AEW and was featured on AEW television just a fortnight ago, is set to begin her journey with WWE next Tuesday at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. It’s not yet clear whether she will make an immediate appearance on WWE’s main roster or if she will first undergo training in WWE’s developmental brand, NXT.
At 31 years old, Cargill’s professional wrestling career spans only two years. Her debut in the ring occurred in AEW during a prominent mixed tag team match in March 2021, where she teamed up with NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal to face Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet. Interestingly, Rhodes, one of Cargill’s mentors at the Nightmare Factory in Georgia, signed with WWE last year after being involved in the founding of AEW in 2019, and he even headlined WrestleMania 39.
Cargill’s reign as the inaugural AEW TBS champion began on January 5, 2022, and continued for an impressive 508 days until May 28, 2023. Hailing from Florida, she is seen as a promising future star in professional wrestling and beyond. Standing at 5 feet 10 inches tall, Cargill was previously a fitness model and boasts almost one million followers on Instagram. She also played Division I basketball at Jacksonville University and is married to former Cincinnati Reds player Brandon Phillips. In addition to their wrestling careers, Cargill and Phillips are proud owners of the Women’s Professional Fastpitch (WPF) team, the Texas Smoke.
Cargill is reportedly receiving a substantial compensation package for her WWE stint, reflecting the company’s commitment to her creative direction. Whether she will achieve significant stardom in WWE following her debut remains to be seen.
