Did Kevin Nash Cause Problems Between Vince McMahon And Randy Savage?

2 years ago By Sports Desk

Kevin Nash has come up with a new explanation for why the relationship between Vince McMahon and “Macho Man” Randy Savage deteriorated.

Randy Savage, a wrestling legend from the 1980s and 1990s, hasn’t been talked about much in WWE since he left in the mid-1990s. He wasn’t even inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame until 2015, which was four years after he passed away. While other wrestling stars from that era like Hogan and Andre are still frequently discussed, there’s been speculation that something caused a significant strain in Savage’s relationship with Vince McMahon, effectively leading to WWE sidelining him for about a decade.

Over the years, various theories have surfaced, including scandalous allegations of an inappropriate relationship between Savage and Stephanie McMahon. However, Kevin Nash has a different perspective.

Nash recently revealed that he played a role in the Slim Jim commercial featuring “Macho Man” Randy Savage. During an episode of the “Kliq This” podcast, Nash mentioned that Randy Savage’s brother, Lanny Poffo, had shared with him that one reason Vince McMahon was displeased with Savage was that the wrestling icon took the Slim Jim sponsorship with him when he joined WCW.

Nash explained that he advised WWE executives to involve Randy Savage in the Slim Jim commercials, even though he was the WWE Champion at the time and could have been featured in them himself. He believed that Slim Jim was synonymous with Savage and suggested that WWE should stick with Randy for those commercials.

Regarding the long-standing tension between Savage and Vince McMahon over the Slim Jim sponsorship, Nash humorously admitted, “Oops! I thought I was doing Mach [Savage] a favor.” He imagines Savage looking down from above and saying, ‘Nash, you always had my back.’

It’s worth noting that WWE has recently renewed its partnership with Slim Jim, as evidenced by this year’s SummerSlam featuring a Slim Jim-branded battle royal, won by LA Knight. The beef jerky brand was reportedly thrilled with Knight’s involvement in the match.
