Cody Rhodes And Jey Uso Become The New Undisputed TAG Team Champions, Beat The Judgement Day

8 months ago By Sports Desk

WWE fans were treated to a thriller match tonight. In the tag-team match Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso claimed the title of Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions. This major event occurred at the WWE Fastlane Premium Live Event, right on the heels of a dramatic title change at WWE Payback last month. In the former event, Damian Priest & Finn Balor overcame the duo of Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens in an adrenaline-pumping Steel City Street Fight. Interestingly, the win came with substantial support from The Judgment Day, adding a layer of complexity to the championship scenario.

The stage was set in Indianapolis, where a charged audience bore witness to what would be one of the most talked-about matches involving The Judgment Day. Fans are accustomed to high-octane drama whenever this faction is involved, and the Fastlane PLE was no different. Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio, and JD McDonagh, who isn’t even a formal member of The Judgment Day, were constantly seen stirring up chaos around the ringside.

However, a significant turning point was reached deep into the match, with Priest in a tussle with Cody atop the commentary table. Just when things were heating up, Cody dodged an attack, leading McDonagh to inadvertently strike Priest’s already injured left knee with the Money in the Bank briefcase. Seizing this unexpected advantage, Cody wasted no time in delivering a Cross Rhodes onto the table, effectively sidelining Priest.

With Priest temporarily out of the picture, Jey Uso displayed his prowess, executing a flawless somersault dive that grounded both Balor and McDonagh. In the ring, the combined might of Jey and Cody was on full display as they executed a 1D/Cody Cutter combo on Balor. Not letting the momentum slip, Cody swiftly followed it up with another Cross Rhodes on Balor, securing the pinfall victory. The triumphant duo of Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso emerged as the new Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions.

As the champions celebrated, the tension was palpable on the other side. The Judgment Day, known for their solidarity and strength, showcased rare in-fighting. A visibly irate Ripley admonished McDonagh for his unintended blunder. The friction between Priest and McDonagh, especially given the former’s previous reservations about McDonagh’s association with The Judgment Day, added to the drama of the night.

Diving deeper into the backgrounds of the new champions, both Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso come from illustrious wrestling legacies. Cody, son of the legendary Dusty Rhodes, and Jey, one of the prodigious sons of Rikishi, have been no strangers to tag team glory.

Jey Uso’s accolades in the tag team category are remarkable. With nine WWE Tag Team Championship wins under his belt, Jey’s previous eight victories came alongside his brother, Jimmy Uso. Their formidable partnership is etched in WWE history, with the duo holding the record for the longest Tag Team Title reign spanning an impressive 622 days. This phenomenal streak came to a halt earlier this year at WrestleMania 39 when they were bested by Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

Cody Rhodes, on the other hand, now boasts seven WWE Tag Team Championship titles. His journey to this pinnacle has seen him pair up with a variety of talented wrestlers, including his brother Goldust (Dustin Rhodes), Ted Dibiase, Drew McIntyre, and Hardcore Holly. The recent alliance with Jey Uso adds another feather to his already illustrious cap.

With the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles now in their grasp, both Cody and Jey have the privilege to make appearances on both Raw and Smackdown. This newfound freedom promises intriguing confrontations in the future. Fans are already abuzz with anticipation about potential face-offs, like Cody going head-to-head with Roman Reigns, who is slated to make a return on Smackdown soon. Additionally, Jey’s interactions with his family in The Blooding, including his cousin Reigns and siblings Jimmy Uso & Solo Sikoa, are bound to be a treat for WWE aficionados.

In a nutshell, the WWE landscape has once again shifted, promising fans a roller-coaster of emotions, confrontations, and edge-of-the-seat action in the days to come.
