Bully Ray hypes up Cody Rhodes to defeat Brock Lesnar at WWE SummerSlam

1 years ago By Sports Desk

The highly anticipated SummerSlam event on August 5 at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, may feature a thrilling rubber match between Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar. With Rhodes securing a victory at Backlash and Lesnar seeking redemption at Night of Champions, anticipation is building for this epic showdown.

Esteemed WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray has passionately shared his vision for the culmination of the Lesnar-Rhodes trilogy. While he has previously talked about Lesnar’s legendary status, Ray wants to see Cody Rhodes cement his status at SummerSlam this time around.

Bully Ray wants Cody Rhodes to submit Brock Lesnar

During a recent episode of the “Busted Open” podcast, Bully Ray eloquently expressed his belief that Cody Rhodes should achieve a decisive victory by either pinning or submitting the seemingly invincible Brock Lesnar. Ray emphasized the significance of such a monumental triumph, highlighting its pivotal role in Rhodes’ future aspirations to challenge Roman Reigns at the grandest stage of them all, WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia.

Bully Ray said the following:

“I think we need to see Cody Rhodes pin Brock Lesnar or submit Brock Lesnar. Because if Cody Rhodes is going to go on to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia, Cody Rhodes is going to have to pin Roman Reigns or submit Roman Reigns. And what better foundation to stand on for those future promos when Roman says to Cody Rhodes, ‘What makes you think you can beat me? What makes you think you can beat ‘The Tribal Chief?’ Cody turns around and says, ‘I’m the guy that pinned ‘The Beast.””

In discussing the potential methods of victory, Bully Ray revealed a clear preference for Lesnar’s submission. He considered it a remarkable achievement due to the rarity of witnessing “The Beast” tapping out. The fact that almost two decades have passed since Lesnar last succumbed to a submission only amplified the significance of Rhodes accomplishing this feat. “I like the tapping. To see Brock tap is a big, big deal.”

A submission victory for Cody Rhodes over Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam would have profound implications. Not only would it solidify Rhodes’ status as a formidable force in the WWE, but it would also serve as a powerful narrative tool for future confrontations with Roman Reigns. When Reigns inevitably challenges Rhodes, questioning his ability to defeat “The Tribal Chief,” Cody could boldly respond, drawing upon his historic triumph over Lesnar as undeniable proof of his mettle.
