Breaking: UFC Paris Loses Two Exciting Bouts On Short Notice
UFC Paris could be down to just 10 bouts this weekend. The event is set to go down on September 2 at the Accor Arena in Paris, France.
According to reports, the UFC is looking for two replacement fighters for a featherweight and bantamweight contest after Lucas Almeida and Muin Gafurov were forced out of their scheduled bouts. Almeida was matched up against William Gomis in a featherweight contest. On the other hand, Gafurov was booked to face Taylor Lapilus for a bantamweight showdown.
Lucas Almeida recently took to social media to announce his withdrawal from the fight due to injury. The Brazilian was looking to rebound from his last loss to Pat Sabatini at UFC Vegas 75. He last tasted victory against Michael Trizano at UFC Vegas 56 in June last year, and his record stands at 14-2.
On the other hand, Muin Gafurov was forced to withdraw from his bout at UFC Paris due to visa issues. The bantamweight contender announced the news via social media. The Gafurov vs. Lapilus bout was scheduled to be one of the six main-card bouts this weekend. Gafurov was coming off a decision loss against John Castaneda at UFC Vegas 74 and has a record of 18-5.
As of now, it’s unclear if the promotion is looking to replace the withdrawn fighters. However, with UFC Paris just days away, there is no confirmation about William Gomis or Taylor Lapilus staying on the card.
Exciting Bantamweight Matchup Added To UFC Paris Event
While the UFC Paris card has certainly taken a hit due to Lucas Almeida and Muin Gafurov pulling out, fans can look forward to an exciting bantamweight contest between Farid Basharat and Kleydson Rodrigues.
UFC Paris is set to go down this weekend. An explosive heavyweight matchup between Ciryl Gane and Serghei Spivac will headline the highly anticipated event. The co-main event will feature a flyweight contest between Rose Namajunas and Manon Fiorot. This contest will also mark the former women’s strawweight champion’s flyweight debut.

MMA journalist Alex Behunin took to Twitter earlier this month and announced that the Farid Basharat vs. Kleydson Rodrigues bantamweight bout has also been added to this weekend’s fight card. He wrote:
“Farid Basharat vs. Kleydson Rodrigues has been added to #UFCParis on September.”
Basharat earned his UFC contract after beating Allan Begosso at Dana White’s Contender Series season six. He defeated Da’Mon Blackshear via unanimous decision on his debut at UFC 285. The 25-year-old is currently on an undefeated career streak and has 10 wins on his record.
Meanwhile, Kleydson Rodrigues earned his UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series season five, with a unanimous decision victory over Santo Curatolo. The Brazilian was handed a split-decision loss by CJ Vergara at UFC 274. However, he bounced back with a quick first-round stoppage victory over Shannon Ross at UFC 285.
