Triple H claimed he could prove that years ago Kane had murdered a young girl by the name of Katie Vick. It was finally a week later, October 14th,, when Kane made his way to the ring and addressed these allegations. And perhaps for the very first time in this character’s run,, Kane delivered a profoundly emotional promo where he talked of Katie Vick being indeed his friend from when he began competing in the world of professional wrestling some decade or so previously. Yes, Katie had passed away,, he admitted,, but this was due to a horrific accident, not murder Kane told the police that he and Katie had gone to a party together. Katie had drunk too much and was grateful when Kane offered to take her home. Unfortunately, Kane did not know how to drive a shift vehicle. The trip home was uneventful until an animal ran onto the road and took Kane’s attention. Swerving the car to avoid it, the car spun around and crashed, killing Katie This explanation did little to satiate Triple H, who continued to taunt Kane about Katie’s death. In a turning up of the escalation, Triple H insinuated that Kane might have sexually assaulted Katie, either before or after her death. This took the storyline into genuinely uncomfortable realms, treading on motivations of necrophilia that were thankfully beyond the reach of even most of WWE’s mature themes. The Funeral Home Segment The Katie Vick storyline reached its infamous nadir on the October 21, 2002, episode of RAW. Came a pre-taped segment set in a funeral home where Triple H was standing beside a casket. The weird part of this segment was when Mysterio equated Owens with his son Dominik, calling him “delusional. It almost turned physical, but before that could happen, Mysterio was quick enough to trip Owens, who rolled out of the ring. Women’s Tag Team Action: Belair and Naomi vs. Jax and LeRae First off, Bianca Belair and Naomi faced Nia Jax and Candice LeRae in a non-title contest. Both teams had a lot of moments that showed their athleticism and teamwork as the momentum seesawed from team to team. The chemistry was going well as Belair and Naomi finished most of the moves well and coordinated with each other in quick time. The momentum shift happened when Belair somehow dodged the leg drop of Jax when she caught her partner. Naomi took this point of obscurity, gave the Bubba Bomb to LeRae to win the match. The continued distractions from Green finally got to B-Fab as Niven took advantage and picked up the win with her finisher. Winner: Piper Niven Rey Mysterio vs. Kevin Owens It was indeed one of the most-anticipated matches of the evening: Rey Mysterio versus Kevin Owens. Indeed, throughout the match, McIntyre had an arsenal of moves so beautifully executed: his Glasgow Kiss and Claymore Kick. Zayn, ever the never-say-die character, fought back valiantly at times and was even able to counter a few of McIntyre’s attacks. In one instance, Zayn countered a Claymore attempt into a clothesline and followed it through with an exploder suplex, allowing the audience for a brief moment to really hope there would be an upset. But it was McIntyre’s relentless attack that finally wore Zayn down. The tide of the match changed when McIntyre surprised Zayn with a surprise Claymore Kick as the former Intercontinental Champion was trying to regain his composure in the corner. This proved to be the decisive blow for McIntyre, as he managed to gain the pinfall victory and thus stretched his winning streak over Zayn25. Post-Match Assault This celebration was very short-lived for McIntyre, however, as he immediately went on the post-match attack against the already battered Zayn25. The aggression here by McIntyre just shows how ruthless he has become—a trait that has been inbuilt in his character since his return to WWE programming. Zayn had just been ambushed and it was Uso who had reacted instinctively in an effort to save his old friend, whom he also saw as his acquaintance25. However, that wasn’t the best thing he had done; though his effort put McIntyre into a shell in which he retreated into his corner for an escape route to the ringside area, such respite this brought about both for Zayn and himself was to prove short-lived at the arrival of The Bloodline. The Shocking Appearance of Bloodline As Jey Uso was about to check on Sami Zayn, the tension in the arena suddenly filled up as Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, and Tama Tonga-the core members of the new Bloodline faction-made their way to the ring25.
