Former WWE Superstar Jack Swagger Announces His Retirement From MMA

Jake Hager, formerly known as Jack Swagger during his WWE days, has been consistently portrayed as a formidable force in AEW since his arrival. He’s been a fixture on AEW television from its inaugural Dynamite episode. Notably, Hager also boasts a credible MMA background. However, it seems that Hager has officially announced his retirement from the world of MMA. While Jake Hager has spent the majority of his career in professional wrestling, lately as a champion with a penchant for purple bucket hats, his side gig as an MMA fighter under Bellator MMA since 2017 has largely gone under the radar. It’s been three years since he last entered the cage for a professional fight, and there are no indications of that changing anytime soon. Hager holds a respectable MMA record of 3 wins, 0 losses, and 1 draw, all within the Bellator promotion. However, his last MMA bout was in October 2020 at Bellator 250. Since then, he shifted his focus back to his professional wrestling career. Previously, Jake Hager expressed his desire to return to MMA in 2022 and even had a fight scheduled for October of that year. However, the fight never materialized. During a virtual signing event with K & S WrestleFest, Hager confirmed his retirement from MMA due to Bellator’s failure to provide him with a fight opportunity. He stated, “Officially, I’m retired from MMA. I trained hard last year but Bellator was jerking me off, and I retired, and I am now just focusing on wrestling.” Even in the world of professional wrestling, Hager has maintained a limited schedule. In the current year, he has participated in just 14 matches within the AEW promotion. He was previously associated with the Jericho Appreciation Society but departed from the group in recent months. Instead, he has aligned himself with other former J.A.S. members and was recently involved in the Over Budget Charity Battle Royal during the All Out Zero Hour pre-show. As for what’s next for Jake Hager in AEW, it remains to be seen. With his MMA career now officially concluded, fans are curious to know if AEW has any significant plans in store for him. What are your thoughts on Jake Hager’s retirement from MMA? Do you believe he should have continued with it? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments!

Trish Stratus On Facing Becky Lynch: “It Was An Epic Confrontation”

Trish Stratus talked about her rivalry with Becky Lynch, saying, “I had a great time competing against her.” After betraying Becky Lynch in April, WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus got involved in a long-running dispute with The Man, which reached its peak in an acclaimed steel cage match at Payback in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on September 2nd. During a recent interview on GAW TV with Mickie James, Victoria, and So Cal Val, Trish Stratus reflected on their rivalry. She admitted that, initially, Becky Lynch wasn’t at the top of her list for dream opponents. However, interest grew after their initial encounter in Canada in 2022. “When WWE came to Canada and invited me to host their Canadian shows, I knew I’d have interactions with her during those events, which led to a minor Twitter feud. People were buzzing about it. When it comes to dream matches or fantasy matchups, I don’t think anyone ever thought of Trish Stratus vs. Becky Lynch. Sasha Banks (Mercedes Mone) had been a contender because of our epic face-off in the 2018 Royal Rumble. People would fantasize about the ‘old generation vs. new generation’ clash, and that sounded cool. Becky Lynch didn’t come to mind.” “But when we faced off, people started saying, ‘This is a dream match, the best of this generation against the best of that generation,’ and the interest was there. It took some time, maybe over a year, to finally make it happen. We eventually got to work together and even teamed up, which was a great experience. She’s fantastic. After working with her and watching her more closely, I became a huge fan. She’s truly something special for this generation. She brings something unique.” Stratus continued, explaining that she and Lynch had never met before Lynch became pregnant with her daughter Roux. However, they ended up working together exceptionally well. Despite a few setbacks in the storyline due to external factors, Stratus believes their rivalry was something out of a fantasy. “You often hear people say, ‘She wrestles like the guys, she cuts promos like the guys.’ I’m not sure why we use that as a benchmark, but there’s some notion that wrestling ‘like a girl’ is somehow inferior. Nowadays, women’s wrestling is incredible, and wrestling ‘like a girl’ is fantastic. Becky delivered, and I bought into the hype too. We worked seamlessly together.” “We had never met before, but we connected when she was expecting. Those moments where moms connect – ‘Congratulations, best wishes for the delivery.’ We bonded over that and became good friends outside of wrestling. We were completely unrelated to wrestling, just mom friends, which was cool. When you get to work closely with someone, you become close to them, and we got to know each other better, explored our friendship, and delved into each other’s thoughts. We wanted this to be something special.” “Although it got somewhat overlooked due to other ongoing storylines, it ultimately became a legendary generational showdown that is unlikely to be replicated. It was a unique dynamic, and we didn’t want to let that slip away. Once we realized that our focus was on delivering something special to the fans, we worked incredibly well together, and I had a great time competing against her.” What’s next for Trish Stratus in WWE? Will she return to Canada to celebrate a job well done, or will she come back soon to challenge Zoey Stark after their partnership ended at Payback? Regardless, it’s impossible to view her feud with Becky Lynch as anything but a resounding success.

WWE NXT No Mercy: Becky Lynch Set To Defend Her NXT Title Against Tiffany Stratton

Becky Lynch

In a captivating twist of events leading up to one of WWE’s most anticipated events, No Mercy, Becky Lynch is scheduled to go head-to-head against Tiffany Stratton. Set to take place in Bakersfield, California on September 30, the encounter promises fireworks as the fiery Irishwoman Lynch is poised to defend her newly acquired NXT Women’s Championship against a vengeful Stratton. For fans who have been following the WWE universe, this showdown holds significant importance. It was just a week ago on WWE NXT that Becky Lynch, popularly dubbed “The Man,” made history by defeating Stratton, clinching the NXT Women’s Championship and solidifying her place as a Grand Slam Champion. A title that only a handful have achieved, Grand Slam Champion status signifies a wrestler who has won every major title in the WWE universe. Lynch’s recent victory not only elevated her prestige but also garnered immense support from the NXT faithful. Walking out to the ring with the title gleaming on her shoulder, the arena echoed with chants and cheers in admiration for the Irish Lass Kicker. The energy was palpable, with many speculating who would be the next contender for the coveted title. While fans speculated, it was Lynch who seemed to have plans of her own. Addressing the crowd, she teased potential clashes with a few of the NXT top talents, hinting at possible future encounters. However, the jubilation was short-lived. Tiffany Stratton, the former champion, wasn’t about to let Lynch revel in her victory unchallenged. Interrupting the celebration, Stratton, with a hint of arrogance and defiance, reminded Lynch of a prior promise: a rematch whenever Stratton deemed fit. The atmosphere grew tense. Stratton, known for her cunning and strategic mind, teased the possibility of a rematch that very night. But, in a twist, she threw down the gauntlet for No Mercy. The announcement sent shockwaves throughout the wrestling community, and fans are already marking their calendars in anticipation. It’s no secret that the rivalry between these two powerhouses has been brewing for some time. Their history is rich with fierce confrontations and unforgettable moments. While Lynch’s recent victory over Stratton might have added a feather to her cap, Stratton is no stranger to overcoming adversity. As a former title-holder, she has showcased resilience and skill time and again. However, the stakes are higher this time around. In a recent altercation post their tag team main event, where Lynch teamed up with Lyra Valkyria against Stratton and Kiana James, tensions flared beyond the norm. After securing a win, an irate Stratton ambushed Lynch with a steel chair in an unsanctioned assault. This unsportsmanlike act saw Stratton momentarily reclaiming the title in a symbolic gesture before making her exit, leaving a recovering Lynch seething in anger. Seeking retribution, Lynch raised the stakes even further. She didn’t just demand a rematch but insisted that their No Mercy showdown be under Extreme Rules. For the uninitiated, an Extreme Rules match in WWE means there are no disqualifications, and anything goes. From tables to ladders, to chairs, the arsenal is limitless and often results in some of the most brutal and memorable matches in WWE history. With No Mercy rapidly approaching, the excitement is building to a fever pitch. Analysts and fans are split down the middle, with some backing the veteran prowess of Becky Lynch, while others believe in the strategic acumen of Tiffany Stratton. The outcome is unpredictable, but one thing is certain: the WWE universe is in for a spectacle. Whether “The Man” manages to retain her title or Stratton regains her lost glory, the road to No Mercy promises a roller coaster of emotions, challenges, and above all, some top-tier wrestling action.

Vince McMahon Likely To Be Forced Down As WWE Chairman Following Federal Govt Investigation

The past year has been quite eventful for Vince McMahon, WWE, and its fans. McMahon had to step away from his role in the company due to a scandal involving secret payments. However, he managed to return in January and later agreed to merge WWE with the UFC under the TKO Group Holdings company. This merger went through, even though the federal government was investigating McMahon’s undisclosed payments related to the scandal that occurred last summer. These payments were not included in WWE’s annual financial reports. It is alleged that McMahon paid over $14.6 million to several women, including former WWE employees, to keep them from talking about accusations of sexual misconduct and infidelity dating back to 2006. Additionally, he paid $5 million to the Donald Trump Foundation for Trump’s appearances on television in 2007 and 2009. On July 17, federal authorities executed a search warrant after a federal grand jury approved a subpoena for McMahon. However, as of now, no charges have been filed against him. Jacob Frenkel, the Chair of Dickinson Wright’s Government Investigations & Securities Enforcement Practice Group and a former senior counsel in the SEC’s Division of Enforcement, explained to the LA Times that McMahon might face legal consequences, possibly leading to his removal from his role at WWE. “Depending on the outcomes of the investigation into Vince McMahon, he could potentially face criminal and/or civil penalties that might disqualify him from serving as an officer or director of a public company.” In January, when Vince McMahon forcefully returned to the company, Ignace Lahoud, a former WWE board member, resigned. He explained his departure, saying, “It didn’t align with my understanding of good governance, and there was a disconnect with my values.” Lahoud also mentioned, “He [McMahon] said, ‘Okay, do whatever you guys need to do. I’m not going to stand in your way.’ Of course, when the board suggested that he step down, he wasn’t pleased about it, but he complied.” Someone close to one of the former board members who left the company stated that McMahon perceived the investigation as an act of disloyalty, despite understanding that the board was simply fulfilling its duties.

WWE Raw Last Episode Sees Another Huge Drops In Viewership Against Two NFL Matches

WWE RAW

The latest episode of WWE Raw faced a significant decrease in viewership, registering a total of 1,331,000 viewers. This marks not only a 2% drop from the previous week but also sets an undesirable record, being the lowest viewership ever for an original episode of the show. Adding salt to the wound, Raw had the unenviable task of competing against two prominent NFL matches on the same evening. The Pittsburgh Steelers clinched a victory against the Cleveland Browns, while the New Orleans Saints triumphed over the Carolina Panthers. For any show, competing against the might of the NFL is challenging, and Raw was no exception. However, it wasn’t all bleak for WWE Raw. Impressively, despite the overall decline, the show saw a notable rise in the pivotal P18-49 demographic, with an increase of nine per cent. This suggests that while the overall numbers might have been on the downside, the younger audience segment remains considerably invested in the product. One of the evening’s highlights was the electric live segment featuring Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, and Cody Rhodes, which stood out as the highest-rated part of the program. On the flip side, the audience seemed less invested in Kofi Kingston’s battle against Ivar, which garnered the lowest ratings in the P18-49 group. Another segment that faced a dip in viewer interest was the bout between Tommaso Ciampa and Imperium’s Giovanni Vinci, registering the smallest viewer count of the evening. Amidst these highs and lows, the episode also featured an enticing open challenge match. NXT Women’s Champion, Becky Lynch, stepped up to defend her title, with Natalya emerging as her challenger. Interestingly, Natalya wasn’t originally scheduled for this match. She was initially set to participate in that night’s Main Event taping, but a last-minute shuffle saw Tegan Nox take her place, and no official statement has addressed the sudden change. It’s no secret that WWE Raw has grappled with dwindling numbers for some time now, and the challenge of matching up against other popular sports programs, especially the NFL, is a tall order. Recognizing the urgency, WWE hasn’t been passive. Recently, they moved Raw to a fresh timeslot, hoping to attract more viewers. Additionally, the company has introduced a slew of new superstars, hoping that fresh faces and engaging storylines will rejuvenate the brand’s appeal. However, these strategic shifts haven’t manifested in a noticeable upturn in ratings. This prompts industry experts and fans alike to ponder on the future strategies WWE might employ to revamp Raw. Could a significant reduction in the show’s duration be a possible solution? Maybe a shift to another network might rekindle the brand’s former glory. These are speculative solutions, but what’s evident is that WWE might have to think outside the box, potentially making some hard decisions to ensure the longevity and success of Raw. As the weeks unfold, it will be intriguing to see the steps WWE undertakes to reinvent and invigorate Raw. Whether they choose subtle tweaks or massive overhauls, the ultimate aim remains the same: to recapture the audience’s imagination and solidify Raw’s position as a must-watch spectacle. Only time will tell how the saga of Raw’s viewership will evolve.

Will Randy Orton Make His In-Return Appearance After Seen At WWE Performance Center?

Randy Orton

Rumors and speculation are rife within the wrestling community as whispers of the possible return of “The Viper” Randy Orton to the squared circle begin to circulate. This comes after eagle-eyed fans spotted him at the WWE Performance Center recently, giving rise to hopeful discussions regarding his much-anticipated return. A legend in his own right, Randy Orton’s unexpected absence from the limelight since May 2022 has left a void in the WWE Universe. With his abrupt sidelining due to a debilitating back injury which mandated surgical intervention, many wondered if the 14-time world champion would ever grace the ring again. But now, with him being glimpsed working out at the Performance Center, the odds seem favorable. The hushed whispers of fans who saw him were only heightened when Orton, with a playful grin, signaled for secrecy, hinting that a return could be on the horizon. For those who have been following Orton’s illustrious career, his return would not only mark a significant event in WWE history but also promise a series of high-octane matches and storylines. There’s no denying the impact and draw that Orton brings to the table, and his re-entry into active competition could undoubtedly bring a surge in viewership and excitement. While the manner of his return remains a topic of fervent debate, there are a few potential paths that stand out. One such theory making rounds is Randy’s solo comeback to challenge the seemingly invincible Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Reigns, with his iron grip over the title for over two years, has taken on and defeated many challengers. But a Reigns-Orton feud? That is something the fans would pay top dollar to witness. Their contrasting styles and charisma promise a riveting storyline that could dominate WWE programming for months. On the other hand, another train of thought among fans and analysts is a tag team return alongside the charismatic Matt Riddle. Before Orton’s unforeseen injury, the duo showcased great synergy and had a notably successful run as a team. Their camaraderie and combined in-ring prowess set them up as potential challengers to The Usos and their Unified WWE Tag Team Championship reign. Given the existing dynamics and history between these teams, such a rivalry would certainly make headlines and guarantee edge-of-the-seat entertainment. However, the wrestling world is no stranger to swerves and unexpected turns. With Orton’s rich history and legacy in the WWE, the possibilities are nearly endless. He might choose to reignite old feuds or perhaps carve out an entirely new path for himself, forging new rivalries. The presence of emerging talents and shifting dynamics within WWE’s roster ensures that Orton’s return, regardless of the direction it takes, will be anything but predictable. It’s crucial to understand that professional wrestling is not merely about the physical bouts inside the ring. It’s about storytelling, and Randy Orton is one of the finest storytellers the WWE Universe has ever seen. His nuanced performances, whether as a remorseless heel or a valiant babyface, have etched numerous memorable moments in the annals of wrestling history. As such, his potential return could be the beginning of yet another captivating chapter. While the future remains uncertain and speculations abound, one thing is clear: the wrestling world is abuzz with anticipation. The WWE Performance Center sighting and subsequent medical clearance have sent fans into a frenzy of excitement. Whether it’s a clash with Roman Reigns, a tag-team spectacle alongside Matt Riddle, or an entirely new direction, Randy Orton’s potential return signifies a thrilling period ahead for the WWE Universe.

14-Time WWE Champion Randy Orton Seen At The WWE Performance Center

Randy Orton

In the intricate world of professional wrestling, surprises are the heart and soul of the industry. These shocking moments, sometimes meticulously planned, leave fans both old and new with their jaws on the floor, heart rates escalated, and an unwavering hunger for more. One of the biggest shockers in recent memory, albeit away from the ring lights and roaring crowds, has been the return of “The Viper” Randy Orton to the WWE Performance Center, after a hiatus that left many believing his wrestling days were behind him. To understand the gravity of this news, one must rewind to May 2022. Orton, a 14-time WWE champion, along with Matt Riddle, found themselves in a high-stakes battle against The Usos with the intent to unify both the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Championships. While the match was a masterclass of athletic prowess and storytelling, it also marked Orton’s last appearance in the squared circle. Soon after, Orton was sidelined due to a major health concern – a back fusion surgery. Such a procedure is not only taxing on the body but also raises serious questions about one’s professional future, especially in a physically demanding arena like WWE. Following the surgery, medical experts advised against Orton’s return to in-ring action, leaving fans heartbroken and the wrestling fraternity losing one of its most esteemed figures. However, as the saying goes, “Never say never in WWE.” Months later, whispers began to emerge from the WWE Performance Center, a facility known for honing the skills of upcoming talent and also serving as a rehabilitation center for injured athletes. Fightful Select shed light on these murmurs, stating that Randy Orton had been a regular presence at the Performance Center. The Viper wasn’t just visiting; he was actively working out, testing his limits, and gauging the possibility of a future return. Such reports create a dichotomy of emotions. On one hand, Orton’s possible return would be a shot in the arm for WWE, bringing back a seasoned veteran with undeniable star power. On the other, the looming shadow of his back surgery cannot be ignored. The wrestling industry, as thrilling as it may be, carries inherent risks. Even one misstep or an unfortunate accident in the ring can have grave consequences, especially for someone recovering from a surgery as significant as a back fusion. Yet, there seems to be a glimmer of hope, or perhaps a teaser from Orton himself. Fans who caught a glimpse of him at the Performance Center reported a rather playful gesture from the Legend Killer. Orton was seen signaling them with a finger on his lips, suggesting secrecy. This gesture, as cheeky as it may seem, speaks volumes. It tells a tale of a possible surprise return, a moment WWE is known for, where unexpected comebacks send shockwaves throughout the arena and the global audience. Considering his status in the WWE universe, Randy Orton’s return, if it does happen, would be monumental. From his early days as a brash young talent to evolving into the methodical, cunning Viper, Orton’s journey in WWE has been nothing short of legendary. The mere thought of him potentially defying medical odds and stepping back into the ring adds another riveting chapter to this saga. To conclude, while Orton’s presence at the WWE Performance Center might be the beacon of hope many fans have been yearning for, it is imperative to remember the gravity of his recent medical history. Regardless of the decisions made in the coming months, the safety and health of any athlete should always take precedence. Until official announcements are made, all eyes and ears will be on the lookout for the familiar notes of Orton’s entrance music, ready to witness the resurgence of The Viper. Only time will tell if and when Randy Orton decides to strike again.

3 Possible Stipulation Matches At WWE NXT No Mercy 2023

WWE NXT No Mercy 2023 Possible Matches

WWE NXT’s prestigious Pay-Per-View event, No Mercy, is all set to make its triumphant return on September 30, 2023, promising an unforgettable night of wrestling action. While the anticipation for this inaugural NXT No Mercy continues to build, fans are speculating about what might be in store for the Superstars of the black-and-gold brand.  One aspect that often adds excitement and drama to these events is the inclusion of stipulation matches. Here, we explore three possible stipulation matches that could grace the No Mercy 2023 card. 1. Submission Match: Ilja Dragunov vs. Carmelo Hayes for the NXT Championship One of the most anticipated clashes of the night could feature Ilja Dragunov challenging Carmelo Hayes for the NXT Championship in a Submission Match. Dragunov’s relentless style and his mastery of the Torpedo Moscow, a devastating submission finisher, make him a perfect fit for this stipulation.  On the other hand, Carmelo Hayes has proven himself as a cunning and resourceful champion, relying on his quick thinking to escape tight spots. A Submission Match would add an extra layer of intrigue to this high-stakes showdown, as both competitors would need to outwit and outlast each other to secure victory. 2. Ladder Match: Dominik Mysterio vs. Mustafa Ali for the NXT North American Championship Dominik Mysterio has been on a remarkable run in 2023, holding onto the NXT North American Championship against all odds. Mustafa Ali, with his high-flying and acrobatic style, could be the perfect challenger to take Mysterio to the limit.  A Ladder Match for the championship could be the ideal stipulation to showcase their aerial abilities and determination. With the title hanging high above the ring, the ladder becomes a crucial element in the battle, adding an element of risk and spectacle that is synonymous with Ladder Matches. Both Mysterio and Ali have the potential to deliver a memorable ladder-based encounter that would leave fans in awe. 3. No Disqualification Match: Bron Breakker vs. Baron Corbin Bron Breakker’s rise in NXT has been nothing short of meteoric, and his recent brutal assault on Von Wagner has ignited a feud that promises to culminate at No Mercy. To make this showdown even more intense, a No Disqualification Match would be fitting.  This stipulation would allow Breakker and Corbin to unleash their aggression without any restrictions, introducing weapons and chaos into the equation. It’s the type of match that could redefine brutality and showcase their willingness to go to extreme lengths to secure victory. With tensions running high, a No Disqualification Match could provide the perfect outlet for their pent-up aggression. While these stipulation matches are speculative, they represent the potential for No Mercy 2023 to deliver unforgettable moments and breathtaking action. WWE NXT’s willingness to incorporate unique stipulations adds a layer of unpredictability to the event, leaving fans eagerly anticipating how these Superstars will adapt to the challenges presented by these match types. As the countdown to No Mercy continues, one thing is certain: these stipulation matches, if realized, have the potential to steal the show and etch their names into the annals of NXT history.
