Dustin Poirier didn’t expect to face Justin Gaethje once more after their first meeting – “I don’t want to do that again”

Dustin Poirier recently claimed he did not expect to face Justin Gaethje in the octagon for the second time. This weekend, Poirier will face Gaethje at UFC 291 in the Delta Center located in Salt Lake City. The pair will go head-to-head for the coveted ‘BMF’  title. Poirier first fought Gaethje at UFC on Fox 29 in April 2018. While Gathje found success early with his devastating leg kicks, ‘The Diamond’ applied his exceptional boxing skills to pepper ‘The Highlight’ with brutal combos. The two explosive lightweights put on a striking clinic over four action-packed rounds, at the end of which Poirier secured a TKO victory.  Given the brutality of their first meeting, Dustin Poirier wasn’t looking forward to a rematch.  At the UFC 291 media day, Poirier was asked if he ever considered fighting Gaethje again after their first fight. He replied: “No… I actually sat next to Justin at one of the pay-per-views in Vegas. We were talking, chopping it up, and I told him, ‘Dude, I don’t want to do that again.’ I told him that… And here we are, about to throw hands. Honestly, throughout the five years since the first fight, I didn’t see it coming.” Catch Poirier’s comments below (3:35): Dustin Poirier claims to have an “unwritten agreement” with Justin Gaethje about selling their UFC 291 fight  Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje aren’t keen on trash-talking each other to sell their upcoming BMF title fight. The two mercurial lightweight contenders, who are set to throw down this weekend, see no need to market their bout any more than necessary.  As mentioned above, Poirier and Gaethje fought one of the most entertaining fights of 2018. After a slugfest that matched up to every expectation, ‘The Diamond’ stunningly defeated the Arizona native via fourth-round TKO. The fight also won the two fighters a $50,000 ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus. Fans are already hyped to see them run it back, considering how entertaining their first bout was. While fighters exchanging barbs in the build-ups to fights is common, Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje have notably steered away from engaging each other that way.  In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Poirier discussed the same. Claiming that they have an “unwritten agreement” between them, he said: “It’s cool because we have an understanding. We have an unwritten agreement. We know what we’re going to try to do to each other on Saturday night. I think the hardcore fans, maybe even the casual fans, understand that too. We don’t have to push each other off the stage and curse at each other at a press conference or be crazy to sell the fight. Cause’ you know what you’re getting with this.” Watch the full interview below:

Bully Ray sends message to Vince McMahon about Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre’s highly anticipated return at Money in the Bank was met with great excitement, but according to Bully Ray, “The Scottish Warrior” still needs to display more personality in WWE to truly stand out with his character work. Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Ray expressed his hope that McIntyre’s ongoing feud with WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER would bring out a different side of him, especially on the microphone. While Drew certainly has the look and fighting prowess of a top-tier wrestler, Ray feels that something is missing when it comes to his personality, particularly during his promos. Bully Ray wants Drew McIntyre to be destroyed on the WWE Ray acknowledged that McIntyre had to carry the company during challenging times, referring to the period of low audience attendance due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite no fault of his own, Ray believes this situation may have impacted Drew’s character development and audience connection. Drawing inspiration from Will Ospreay’s passionate promo on “AEW Dynamite,” where Ospreay shared his real-life struggles during the COVID era, Ray encouraged McIntyre to do the same By sharing his own trials and tribulations, Drew could inject more depth and authenticity into his character, further engaging the fans: “I’m hoping that GUNTHER can bring out a different side of Drew — on the microphone [and] personality-wise. I have gone on record, there’s something about Drew’s personality that doesn’t fully resonate. He looks the part, he fights the part, he stands there the part, he’s everything the part — other than when he talks. When Drew talks, I can’t get as into him as I have with everything else he has done. He will always be the guy that had to carry the company when there was nobody there. By no fault of his, I do think it affected him. Will [Ospreay] laid out the real-life trials and tribulations he had to go through during the COVID era — just to keep doing what he loves. That’s what I would love to hear coming out of Drew’s [mouth].“ Ray also reflected on Drew’s previous stint in WWE’s main roster in 2018, where he displayed a “badass” attitude while playing the role of Dolph Ziggler’s heavy. He questioned whether Drew could tap into that persona once again or even consider a heel turn, citing the success of Roman Reigns and Dominik Mysterio, who experienced significant character growth after turning heel. As the WWE Universe eagerly anticipates SummerSlam, where Drew McIntyre will clash with GUNTHER, the hope remains that this feud will bring out the best in Drew’s character and showcase the personality that will resonate with fans on a deeper level.

Big Show reveals crazy diet habits during peak WWE years

Paul Wight, better known as the ‘Big Show’ in WWE, was not only known for his towering height but also for his enormous size during his wrestling tenure. At his peak, he weighed an astounding 504 pounds and clinched the world championship an impressive seven times. However, what truly stood out was his jaw-dropping diet, which he recently revealed during a talkSPORT interview. Big Show reveals crazy diet during peak WWE days Wight confessed that he used to consume an astonishing 18,000 calories a day, consisting of a variety of unhealthy food choices. His meals included multiple Big Macs, a handful of fries, shakes, apple pies, and even up to five sandwiches in one sitting. Not stopping there, he would then head to Taco Bell and devour around 20 tacos. This excessive consumption, while a possibility during his younger days, eventually took a toll on his body as he got older: “So I’d probably say somewhere between 13-18,000 calories a day,’ says Wight. ‘I’d get three or four Big Macs and then I’d get fries and then I’d get a shake and I’d get apple pies and probably a fifth sandwich too. It was nothing. I’d go to Taco Bell and get like 20 tacos.” Reflecting on his past eating habits, Wight recognized that such an unrestricted diet was feasible in his youth, considering his size and athleticism. However, with age comes wisdom, and he came to the realization that he needed to make significant changes in his lifestyle. Thankfully, in recent years, Wight has undergone a remarkable transformation, shedding around 130 pounds to improve his health and fitness. Now working for All Elite Wrestling (AEW) under his real name, he has adopted a more balanced and healthier approach to eating. He no longer indulges in excessive calories but rather follows a streamlined diet. Wight revealed that he now consumes approximately 10 ounces of protein, a small portion of carbohydrates, and includes some vegetables in his meals. He strives to eat in a way that supports his well-being, opting for more nutritious choices and steering away from the empty bad calories he used to consume. Throughout his over two-decade-long career as the World’s Largest Athlete, Wight has faced numerous challenges, including managing his diet and weight. However, his determination and commitment to leading a healthier lifestyle have made him a role model for those striving to make positive changes in their own lives.

GUNTHER wants to fight Brock Lesnar over Roman Reigns

When it comes to the “final bosses” of WWE, there is one name that stands out in the modern era – Roman Reigns. However, WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER doesn’t see Reigns as his dream opponent. In a recent interview with Sportskeeda WrestleBinge, GUNTHER expressed his views on the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. GUNTHER chooses Brock Lesnar as his “dream opponent” According to GUNTHER, he and Reigns are two completely different wrestlers with distinct backgrounds. Reigns emerged from a rich wrestling lineage and was trained within the WWE system, ultimately becoming a picture-perfect example of how WWE can mold someone into a superstar. On the other hand, GUNTHER, like many other Europeans, had to build himself up in his wrestling journey. While he acknowledges Reigns’ incredible achievements and the aura he carries when stepping into the arena, GUNTHER doesn’t see him as his top choice for a dream opponent: “What he has achieved is absolutely incredible. The aura he has, and the reaction he gets when he steps foot in an arena, is almost like never seen before. So that makes it very interesting for me — yeah, at some point, if the chance arises to see … who would come out of this as the winner.” On Brock Lesnar: “He’s definitely somebody I looked up to. I always admired him for how he handles himself and his business and stuff. For me personally, I think he’s my biggest obstacle at some point in my career. So if there’s a chance that this happens, I would love to do that, of course.” GUNTHER praised Reigns for what he has accomplished in WWE and remains open to the possibility of facing him in the future, eager to see who would emerge victorious in such a clash. However, there is another WWE star that GUNTHER hopes to face in the more immediate future – Brock Lesnar. GUNTHER revealed that Lesnar is a dream match for him, admiring how “The Beast Incarnate” conducts himself and conducts his business. For GUNTHER, Lesnar represents the biggest obstacle in his career, and he would love the chance to compete against him. Currently holding the Intercontinental Championship since June 10, 2022, when he defeated Ricochet on “WWE SmackDown,” GUNTHER is on a hot streak, dominating opponents such as Sami Zayn, Rey Mysterio, Braun Strowman, Drew McIntyre, and Sheamus. Lesnar, on the other hand, is preparing for his third bout against Cody Rhodes, scheduled for WWE SummerSlam on August 5. Regardless of the outcome of his feud with Rhodes, it appears that GUNTHER has his sights set on a potential clash with Lesnar in the near future.

I’m going to be proud,” Booker continued. “I’d be like, ‘Wow, man, he did it, man. He stayed the course. He went out there and cashed in. They believed in him, and he didn’t let them down. He went out there and performed.’ That’s what I’m loving about watching the Usos — both of them — go out there and do their thing. I’m serious. Those guys — I’m proud of both of those guys for what they’ve achieved and what they’ve accomplished in WWE.” Booker also discusses the pressure associated with being in such a prominent position on the roster. As SummerSlam approaches, the anticipation for this highly anticipated match between Jey Uso and Roman Reigns continues to grow. Alongside other exciting matches on the card, this clash has captured the attention of fans and fellow wrestlers alike. With Booker T firmly supporting Jey Uso’s potential victory, wrestling enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the outcome at the event on August 5 at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.

Rhea Ripley No-Makeup Stance at WWE Live Events: An Insight into the Alluring Appeal of The Eradicator

Rhea Ripley

Rhea Ripley, born Demi Bennett, has been a formidable force in the wrestling world, especially in the WWE, where she has consistently proven her mettle. Known for her powerful wrestling techniques and edgy character, Ripley has continued to captivate audiences, maintaining a strong presence as one of the main attractions of the franchise. One unique aspect of her persona is her bold ring gear and striking makeup that helps elevate her heel character during televised events. A New Enigma: No Makeup at Live Events Recently, a pattern has emerged that’s left WWE enthusiasts intrigued: Ripley’s decision to attend WWE live events sans makeup. Her fans have been contemplating the reasons behind this unique choice. After all, her daring makeup is a significant aspect of her overall ensemble. Yet, as the mystery unravels, it appears that the reason is much more straightforward than previously thought. The Freedom of WWE House Shows WWE house shows, unlike televised events, are non-broadcast affairs designed for the direct entertainment of local fans. As a result, superstars have an expansive freedom to customize their appearances, routines, and even gimmicks. In this context, it appears that Ripley uses these live events as an opportunity to embrace her natural self, eschewing makeup to remain in her comfort zone. Without the necessity to maintain her on-screen persona, she can drop the façade and offer fans a glimpse of the woman behind The Eradicator. By choosing to wrestle without makeup, Ripley accentuates the authenticity of these non-televised events, potentially bridging the gap between the performer and the audience. This distinct disparity between Ripley’s televised persona and her live event appearance often leads to intriguing footage that eventually goes viral. Moreover, not only does Ripley use this opportunity to present herself authentically, but so do other champions like Roman Reigns. These superstars sometimes carry replica belts, adding to the charm of the live events and heightening fans’ excitement. From the Live Stage to the Televised Arena While live events offer WWE Superstars the chance to relax their on-screen character traits, the televised shows demand full commitment to their personas. Hence, they reserve their shenanigans for these broadcasts. Ripley, too, falls back into her audacious makeup and attire when she steps onto the big screen, maintaining the allure of her menacing, makeup-clad persona. In conclusion, Rhea Ripley’s choice to wrestle without makeup at live events underlines the distinction between WWE’s televised shows and its house events. The dynamic also gives fans a chance to experience a more human side to their favorite superstars, adding another layer to the wrestling entertainment experience.

Dominik Mysterio’s Potential Betrayal: Is Rhea Ripley’s Reign at Risk?

Dominik Mysterio

Rhea Ripley, the Women’s World Champion, and Dominik Mysterio, the NXT North American Champion, have been a solid unit in WWE. Their powerful alliance impressed audiences and led them to numerous victories. However, recent events hint at a potential disruption in this unity. A crack in their relationship seems to be forming, one that could lead to massive swerves in WWE’s storylines. Mysterio’s upcoming match against Wes Lee and Mustafa Ali at The Great American Bash this Saturday is a decision influenced by Ripley, causing visible tension between the two. After a backstage conversation, Mysterio expressed doubts about Ripley’s decision, sparking the first signs of possible friction. Should Mysterio lose the belt in the forthcoming match, the situation might become more complex, putting Ripley’s reign at risk. A Fan’s Bold Question and the Possible Fallout Adding fuel to the fire, a young fan recently confronted Dominik, asking how it felt to be “Rhea Ripley’s b*tch”. This unanticipated question might stir up inner turmoil, leading Rey Mysterio’s son to reevaluate his alliance with the Women’s World Champion. If Dominik decides to take control and act independently, it could result in a catastrophic outcome for Ripley, potentially costing her the world title against Raquel Rodriguez. This could set up a high-stakes confrontation between the real-life best friends at the SummerSlam. A Potential Swerve to Rodriguez The prospect of Dominik Mysterio switching sides and joining Rodriguez, who was popularly known as Big Mami Cool in NXT, provides a compelling narrative twist. The idea of Rodriguez becoming Mysterio’s new “Mami” is intriguing and would surely draw a laugh from the WWE universe. However, such a decision would undoubtedly draw the wrath of Braun Strowman, Rodriguez’s real-life boyfriend, who remains a formidable presence in the company. Is the Alliance Worth Preserving? Despite the brewing tension, Ripley and Dirty Dom’s alliance still holds much potential for thrilling matches and unexpected plot turns. As the situation stands, it seems likely that WWE might continue to tease this tension, yet hold back from a complete break. The potential fallout from Dominik joining forces with Rodriguez could spell disaster for the young Mysterio, especially considering Strowman’s position in the company. Hence, fans can expect this power couple to weather the storm and continue their dominance, even if WWE dangles the possibility of a switch.

UFC star reportedly suffered a brain hemorrhage in fight back in 2022

UFC welterweight contender Vincente Luque has reportedly received his Nevada license to resume fighting after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage after his loss to Geoff Neal at UFC Vegas 59.  Neal knocked out the 31-year-old Brazilian in the third round of their fight. Following the loss, Luque was handed a minimum one-year suspension due to brain bleeds. He recently applied for a new fighting license during a Nevada Athletic Commission meeting in Las Vegas.  According to a report by MMA Junkie, Vincente Luque was required to submit clearance from a neurologist and a neurosurgeon as well as a new MRI of his brain to fight. An NSAC medical consultant then approved the clearance. NSAC executive director Jeff Mullen stated: “He suffered a brain bleed [a year ago]. He had a suspension of one year. Luque had to bring before the commission clearance from a neurosurgeon and a neurologist independently who recommended he be licensed. We have that material. … I have faith in our doctors.” Vincente Luque is booked to face Rafael Dos Anjos at UFC on ESPN 51 on August 12. He is on a two-fight losing slide.  Vincente Luque on Rafael Dos Anjos fight getting moved from July to August  UFC welterweight mainstay Vincente Luque recently addressed his July bout against Rafael Dos Anjos getting postponed to August. ‘The Silent Assassin’ was initially booked to face Dos Anjos at UFC on ESPN 49 on July 12. However, the fight was later rescheduled for August 12 for reasons unknown at the time.  While Luque doesn’t know the exact reasons behind the postponement, he recently speculated that compulsory additional medical testing could explain why he’s fighting a month later instead.   In a recent interview with MiddleEasy, Vincente Luque stated: “I’m not 100 percent sure why it moved. But I believe part of it was kind of the commission wanting me to get some more exams and get cleared since my last fight because I got suspended for six months. I was cleared to fight in February but still they wanted some more exams. Just making sure I’m 100 percent. I do feel 100 percent, so I’m sure that everything is going to be good. They wanted to wait maybe a year after my last fight.” Watch the full interview below: As of now, Vincente Luque’s fighting license is valid for a year. If he fights in Nevada again, he’ll be required to submit additional testing to confirm he’s healthy to compete.

TUF coach Conor McGregor hilariously instructs referee from cageside in latest episode; referee complies

Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor is undoubtedly among the most influential personalities in mixed martial arts. To top it off, the Irishman recently proved that he can even influence an in-cage referee during a fight.  McGregor reprised his role as a coach on the ongoing season of The Ultimate Fighter  (TUF) opposite Michael Chandler. ‘The Notorious’ is in charge of a team of bantamweight and lightweight MMA prospects, whereas ‘Iron’ has a team of UFC veterans under his tutelage. While McGregor’s run this season has been notably dismal, the Irishman has avoided a clean sweep. His team went 1-7 against Chandler’s team.  In the latest episode of TUF 31, UFC veterans Austin Hubbard and Roosevelt Roberts faced off in a largely uneventful semifinal contest. However, fans witnessed a hilarious moment between Conor McGregor and the referee during the fight.  After the first minute of the third round, both fighters found themselves in a clinch deadlock against the cage. As the fight stalled while the clock ticked on, ‘The Notorious’ promptly addressed the referee, saying: “Keep them busy, ref.” Almost immediately, the referee responded: “Come on guys, do something, or I’m going to break it up.” Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler: TUF 31 Episode 9 results In the ninth episode of TUF 31, team Michael Chandler’s Austin Hubbard and Roosevelt Roberts faced off in a semifinal matchup. After three uneventful rounds, Hubbard edged out a split-decision win to advance to the lightweight finals. Hubbard will now face the winner of the other lightweight semifinal bout between fellow veterans Jason Knight and Kurt Holobaugh.  Interestingly, Chandler and his coaching staff decided not to corner either contender to avoid favoritism. However, Conor McGregor still showed up energetic as always and sprinkled some much-needed commentary during the fight. However, even the Irishman acknowledged that Hubbard and Roberts were engaged in a glorified spar. Due to Michael Chandler having most fighters competing against each other going forward, the producers suggested that some veterans switch to team McGregor. While most refused, Brad Katona agreed to make the switch. Given that Katona has trained at Conor McGregor’s stable at SBG Ireland under coach Kavanagh, it was an easy decision for the TUF 27 winner.  Next week, Brad Katona and Timur Valiev face off in the first bantamweight semifinal bout.
