All Confirmed Matches For This Week’s WWE RAW – 16th October 2023

2 years ago By Sports Desk

WWE fans are eagerly gearing up for the upcoming October 16, 2023 episode of RAW, which promises to deliver an action-packed evening with five confirmed matches. With a mix of title defenses and matches fueled by personal rivalry, this episode is sure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

First up is the Intercontinental Championship Match where Gunther is set to defend his title. His opponent for the night is Bronson Reed, who secured this title opportunity with a noteworthy win. Reed showcased his prowess on the October 9 episode of RAW, defeating two formidable opponents, Ricochet and Chad Gable, in a thrilling triple-threat match. This isn’t Gunther’s first time under the spotlight in recent times, though. Fans will recall his last title defense on October 2, where he won against the talented Tomasso Ciampa. It’s a battle of might and skill, and only time will tell who will walk away with the Intercontinental title.

On the tag team front, Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso, the reigning Undisputed Tag Team champions, have a challenge ahead. They are set to defend their titles against the dynamic duo of Finn Balor and Damian Priest. The history between these teams runs deep. Rhodes and Jey clinched the titles of Priest and Balor at Fastlane 2023 PLE. The loss seemed to take a toll on Damian Priest, whose frustration was evident during the October 9 episode of RAW. It was during this episode that Finn Balor revealed they’d be getting a title opportunity in the upcoming episode. Cody and Jey, however, are not pushovers. Their recent successful title defense against Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens is a testament to their in-ring chemistry and prowess. Also, Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso have defended their tag team titles on Smackdown against, Grayson Waller and Austin Theory. Cody and Jey became the first tag team to defeat this duo. So, Cody and Jey will have the upper hand coming out of two wins after the Fastlane. Finn Balor and Damian Priest have to give a tough competition to win this match.

The women’s division also promises a heated showdown. Rhea Ripley, a force to be reckoned with, will face Shayna Baszler in the upcoming RAW episode. The stage for this clash was set when Rhea disrupted a singles match by attacking Raquel Rodriguez and Nia Jax. Not one to be left out, Baszler made her presence felt, attacking Nia and flooring Rhea with a powerful German suplex. Following the altercation, Rhea approached Adam Pearce, expressing her desire to bring order to the women’s division and specifically requesting a match against Baszler. Baszler, confident as ever, didn’t shy away from the challenge, boldly stating that she was the strongest and most formidable woman on the roster.

In a match type that guarantees high-octane action, Shinsuke Nakamura and Ricochet are set to collide in a Falls Count Anywhere match. The animosity between these two superstars has been building up, reaching its peak on the October 9 RAW episode. Ricochet ambushed Nakamura during an interview segment, setting the tone for what was to come. Nakamura, not one to be outdone, struck back later in the evening, attacking Ricochet during his entrance. Their feud has historical roots, with Nakamura besting Ricochet in a singles bout on the September 18 RAW episode. Their rivalry further intensified when Nakamura attacked Ricochet backstage on September 25, drawing the ire of Seth Rollins.

Last but not least, Natalya is set to go toe-to-toe with Piper Niven. Their confrontation was sparked by a backstage argument involving Tegan Nox, Chelsea Green, and Piper. While Natalya attempted to uplift Tegan’s spirits, Piper and Chelsea tried to belittle her. This disagreement has since evolved into a scheduled match for the October 16 episode.

As fans gear up for this thrilling episode, they can expect a blend of athleticism, drama, and pure wrestling action. The Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, OK, US, will undoubtedly be buzzing with energy. With superstars ready to lay it all on the line, the October 16, 2023, episode of RAW promises to be one for the history books.
