WWE Smackdown Results & Report: Winners, Losers And Analysis – 13th October 2023

1 years ago By Sports Desk

Live from the BOK Center, the season premiere of WWE SmackDown kicked off with a bang. The electric energy of the audience was palpable as the iconic music of John Cena blared through the speakers. The man hailed by many as the Greatest of All Time, Cena walked into the ring to an overwhelming response. Viewers were treated to a replay of the recent WWE Fastlane, where Cena and LA Knight had a triumphant victory over Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa of The Bloodline.

With the audience chanting his name, Cena took a moment to welcome everyone to this season’s premiere of SmackDown in Tulsa. Just as the atmosphere seemed to be settling, the air got thicker with the entry music of the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. With a championship reign lasting an impressive 1,139 days, Reigns made his much-anticipated return alongside his entourage, “The Wise Man” Paul Heyman and “The Enforcer” Solo Sikoa. An interesting twist was Heyman’s return to his natural brown hair, leaving his signature grey behind.

As Reigns and his crew stepped into the ring, standing opposite Cena, the tension was undeniable. With a smirk, Heyman handed Reigns the mic, and the crowd went wild with a mix of cheers and boos. Reigns, with his usual bravado, called Cena out, demanding to be acknowledged. In a defiant tone, he labeled Cena a coward, stating that Cena’s presence was only due to Reigns’ brief hiatus. He went on to challenge Cena’s claim to the title of “The Greatest of All Time,” asserting that it was him, “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns, who deserved that accolade.

In a surprising turn, Cena responded not with defiance but with acknowledgment. He praised Reigns for his impressive championship streak, admitting that it indeed was a commendable feat. However, Cena made it clear he wasn’t there to challenge Reigns but hinted that someone else might have earned that right.

Suddenly, LA Knight’s music resonated through the arena, bringing the crowd to its feet. As Knight made his way to the ring, Cena gracefully stepped aside, signaling the dawn of a new challenger. With the mic in his hand and the crowd’s undivided attention, Knight wasted no time in confronting Reigns. He boldly proclaimed that while Reigns might be the Tribal Chief, he wasn’t a true defending champion. Reigns, not one to be outdone, questioned Knight’s audacity in challenging him. But Knight, confidently removing his glasses, warned Reigns of the consequences of taking him lightly.

The drama escalated when Jimmy Uso made a surprise attack on Knight, only to be promptly countered and tossed out of the ring. As tensions soared, Reigns and his crew decided to make a tactical retreat. But before exiting, Reigns tells Sikoa to forget about Cena, asking him to handle Knight for now.

With Sikoa hesitating at the ring’s edge, Knight taunted him further, daring him to step into the ring and face the consequences. So, we are set for a high-octane match tonight between LA Knight and Solo Sikoa on the WWE Smackdown.

Elton Prince made a dramatic entrance from his wheelchair, where he had been recovering from a shoulder injury. Alongside him was Kit Wilson, announcing that Pretty Deadly was back in action.

The tag team match pitted Pretty Deadly against The Brawling Brutes – Butch and Ridge Holland. The match started with Butch going hard on Prince, focusing on his recently healed arm. The tables turned when Ridge Holland and Kit Wilson took the spotlight, with Wilson showing great resilience against Holland’s brute force.

However, after the commercial break, things shifted. Wilson was seen landing some strong punches on Butch. A tag allowed Prince to continue the assault, but Butch managed to counter, showcasing his strength and skill. The match saw both teams delivering and countering moves, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats.

A surprising moment came when Prince appeared to be seriously injured. With the referee considering stopping the match, Pretty Deadly saw an opportunity. As the referee was distracted, Wilson landed a swift move on Holland, allowing Prince to pin him down.

In a shocking twist, Pretty Deadly won the match. To the astonishment of many, Prince jumped back into his wheelchair and, along with Wilson, quickly retreated, leaving The Brawling Brutes in disbelief.

Carlito marked his WWE return with a stance of being “cool”, but a backstage encounter with Bobby Lashley and an unexpected attack from The Street Profits turned the atmosphere tense. Lashley reminisced about past encounters and welcomed Carlito in a seemingly friendly manner, only for things to spiral when Carlito suggested a match between them. The assault that followed left Carlito injured and audiences shocked at the unexpected betrayal.

While officials attended to the injured Carlito, tensions rose between Bayley and Zelina Vega, causing WWE Official Adam Pearce to promptly declare a match. This was amid the presence of the Latino World Order and discussions about the SmackDown Women’s Champion IYO SKY, proving that in the WWE, alliances and conflicts can alter at any moment.

Concurrently, a backstage conversation between Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso unfolded where Reigns sharply reminded Jimmy of priorities, highlighting the importance of the Tag Team Titles and expressing his disdain towards Jey Uso’s associations. A simple fist bump at the end of the talk hinted that Reigns’ words were taken seriously.

In the heated match between Bayley and Zelina Vega, audiences witnessed a flurry of strategic attacks and impressive defensive moves. Vega initially demonstrated dominance with a series of agile moves against Bayley. However, an interruption by IYO SKY shifted the momentum, allowing Bayley to gain the upper hand and subsequently win the match through a well-executed Rose Plant. The post-match scenario got hearts racing as Damage CTRL targeted Vega, only to retreat when Charlotte Flair made a dynamic, albeit awkwardly-heeled, entrance to stand beside Vega.

For the next segment, we have, “The Game” to make some announcements. Triple H walks to the ring with the powerful sound of Motörhead guiding his steps. The audience’s overwhelming “Triple H” chant showed their excitement. Triple H spoke of the energy in the room and the momentum building towards the Survivor Series after Fastlane.

He highlighted the hard work of Adam Pearce. Pearce, initially an in-ring performer, later became a WWE Official. For three years, he managed the Superstars of both Raw and SmackDown. Triple H praised him for his dedication and announced that Pearce would now serve as the new General Manager of Monday Night Raw. The crowd shared Pearce’s surprise and happiness.

But who would handle SmackDown? The answer was unexpected. NXT North American Champion, “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio, appeared, receiving a chorus of boos. Mysterio’s complaints about the Tag Titles were drowned by the crowd’s disapproval. But Triple H had a bigger reveal: Nick Aldis, former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion, was introduced as the General Manager of SmackDown.

Aldis’s announcement of SmackDown’s newest star was interrupted by Mysterio’s anger. As tensions mounted, the music signaled the arrival of Kevin Owens, the newest addition to SmackDown. He made a statement by knocking Mysterio out with a Stunner, to the crowd’s delight.

In another part of the venue, Roman Reigns showed his displeasure about Owens joining SmackDown. He questioned Jimmy’s commitment and drive, emphasizing the importance of their collective goal. Reigns’s leadership was evident, guiding his team with a stern vision.

Another update for the WWE fans, Becky Lynch has a book coming out in March 2024 titled “The Man: Not Your Average, Average Girl.”

Chelsea Green and Piper Niven, the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, spoke with SmackDown’s new General Manager, Nick Aldis. They expressed a desire for new, more stylish championship belts. Charlotte Flair then joined the discussion. Recalling the Fastlane event, Aldis acknowledged that Flair could have been the champion if not for Bayley’s interference. He then announced that Flair would compete against IYO SKY for the WWE Women’s Championship next week. This pleased Flair.

Afterwards, Flair met Jade Cargill, introduced by Paul “Triple H” Levesque. A short exchange took place, hinting at future tension between the two.

The evening progressed with Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes preparing to defend their Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship against challengers Grayson Waller and Austin Theory.

The match for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship was on fire as Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso defended their titles against Grayson Waller and Austin Theory, known as A-Town Down Under. The match began with Rhodes and Waller. Early on, Rhodes got the upper hand with an uppercut and a powerful knee to Waller’s midsection. However, Waller managed to tag in Austin Theory. Rhodes tried to lock in the Figure Four Leglock on Theory, but he escaped.

The tides turned when Waller distracted Jey, allowing Theory to get an advantage by sending Jey into the ring post. When the show resumed after a commercial break, Theory was dominating Jey. But Jey was resilient and managed to fend off Waller with a swift enzuigiri, changing the momentum.

When Rhodes and Theory became the legal men in the ring, the action intensified. Rhodes displayed his prowess with a series of powerful moves. Just when it seemed like A-Town Down Under had a chance after Theory’s neckbreaker, Jey jumped in to save the day with well-timed superkicks.

In the climax, the defending champions showcased their synergy. Jey and Rhodes executed their special move, Co-D-1D, flawlessly, and Rhodes finished off Theory with his signature Cross Rhodes move. They successfully retained their titles.

But the excitement didn’t end with the match. As Rhodes and Jey celebrated, the Bloodline’s music echoed throughout the arena. Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa appeared, confronting the champions. The tension grew when the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns, walked out, locking eyes with Cody Rhodes. The two exchanged intense stares, hinting at possible future confrontations.

As the situation seemed ready to explode, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis intervened. He stepped between the two powerhouses, ensuring that the night ended without a physical altercation. But it was clear that the stage was set for more drama and intense battles in the coming weeks.

For the last match we have LA Knight to face against Solo Sikoa. As the match began, Knight quickly attacked Sikoa. Sikoa retaliated with a powerful back elbow and tried for a suplex, but Knight countered with a neckbreaker. Sikoa later overwhelmed Knight with a clothesline. Knight managed to escape and clotheslined Sikoa out of the ring. There was a mysterious issue with the lights during the match. Outside, Sikoa slammed Knight into the ring post, causing him to fall.

Sikoa dominated, trapping Knight in a nerve hold. Knight struggled to lift Sikoa’s weight. A belly-to-belly suplex by Sikoa got him a two-count. In the corner, Sikoa unleashed punches and head-butts on Knight. However, Knight fought back and dodged Sikoa’s moves. Sikoa ended up hitting the ring post.

Knight then took charge, punching Sikoa repeatedly. He delivered a DDT and a series of other moves, getting the audience excited. As he prepared for his signature move, Blunt Force Trauma, Sikoa pushed him away. Both wrestlers then knocked each other down with a double clothesline.

Suddenly, Jimmy Uso appeared, targeting Knight. But John Cena intervened, tackling Jimmy with an Attitude Adjustment. But Sikoa surprised Cena with a Samoan Spike. Knight used this distraction to hit Sikoa with BFT and won the match.

LA Knight celebrated on the turnbuckle, but his celebration was short-lived. Roman Reigns stormed in, spearing Knight to the ground. The crowd voiced their disapproval. Reigns mockingly stood over Knight, showing off his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship as the show ended.

WWE Smackdown today was a full of thriller matches with Roman Reigns and Triple H making to the show. Fans were in a buzz with the house full arena.
