Roman Reigns Says CM Punk Is Not As Good As John Cena And The Rock Are

1 years ago By Sports Desk

In an interview, Roman Reigns shared his views on the ongoing debate about WWE’s alliance with part-time veteran superstars. During this conversation, CM Punk was a point of discussion, and Reigns didn’t hold back in expressing his thoughts.

The Big Dog stated that while many opinions surround this matter, bringing legends and seasoned stars back to the ring offers benefits to everyone involved. Highlighting this, he mentioned, “Legends like The Rock and John Cena have set bars that very few can reach. Their contributions to the industry and the mark they have left are unparalleled.” Reigns also didn’t shy away from stating that CM Punk was not as good as John Cena, and also wasn’t as good as The Rock.”

While it is a controversial statement from Roman Reigns. The statement also shows the impact that John Cena and The Rock have on WWE. Both superstars have helped shape the WWE in recent years.

Apart from the WWE, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, has become one of the biggest names in Hollywood. From action-packed movies to family comedies, his appeal has reached audiences far beyond wrestling fans. John Cena, too, has ventured into the world of cinema and television, gathering a new set of admirers with movies like “Bumblebee” and “The Suicide Squad.”

Comparing these giants with CM Punk can be a complex endeavor. While Punk certainly had moments that shook the WWE universe, especially during the famous 2011 “Summer of Punk,” he did not reach the same mainstream appeal outside of wrestling as Cena and The Rock. His promo in June 2011, where he candidly shared his thoughts on the company and its management, made him the hottest topic in WWE at the time. Fans believed that this was a turning point for Punk’s career.

Another angle to consider is the business side of things. WWE, as a global brand, looks at numbers, ticket sales, merchandise, and how a superstar can elevate the brand. It’s no secret that Cena and The Rock have been massive draws in this regard, which might support Reigns’ claim.

Yet, this isn’t a one-sided debate. CM Punk’s fans and several wrestling aficionados might argue that the Straight Edge Superstar brought something different to the table. His realness, the ability to blur the lines between scripted promos and genuine feelings, gave WWE a flavor that it sorely needed during his prime. In many ways, he challenged the status quo, demanding a change that many felt was overdue.

On the broader topic of WWE leaning on part-time stars for major events, the discussions and sentiments are varied. Some fans believe that bringing legends back takes opportunities away from current roster talents. Others feel that these legends bring in more viewers and offer a nostalgic touch, benefiting the company and the younger talent who get to share the screen with them.

Reigns’ statements have once again ignited this debate. While some agree with his views on Punk, Cena, and The Rock, others feel it downplays Punk’s value and his influence during his prime years.

Reigns has added another chapter to this never-ending debate, reminding us that wrestling, at its heart, remains a passionate and divisive form of entertainment.
