Jon Moxley’s Injury On AEW Dynamite Caused Changes For WrestleDream

2 years ago By Sports Desk

Jon Moxley set off alarm bells in the final moments of his match against Rey Fénix on the latest episode of AEW Dynamite. The Blackpool Combat Club member suffered a concussion, causing a disruption in the fight, which could not conclude as previously planned.

Fans realized something was wrong when Moxley received a piledriver from his rival. He covered Jon, who did not raise his shoulder during the referee’s count of three. Despite this, the officer stopped the count because, on paper, the fight was not over yet. The situation caused a change of plans, which ended with Fénix executing a second piledriver to end the fight.

Despite the scare, Moxley was able to get out on his own two feet. Later, his colleagues from Blackpool Combat Club and Tony Khan approached him to check on his condition. Since then, we have known little more about it, although the changes in that fight would have caused modifications in the plans for AEW WrestleDream, as reported by the specialized media Fightful.

“Fightful has learned that a non-AEW wrestler was originally supposed to come out on AEW Dynamite and challenge Jon Moxley for WrestleDream. However, when the outcome of the match changed, so did the plan to come out. and launch a challenge. We have not known who it was,” the outlet wrote.

The case of Rick Knox

One of the most criticized aspects of that fight was the performance of the fight referee, Rick Knox. Many fans were against his decision to move forward with the fight despite obvious indications that Moxley was not in a position to continue the fight. In this sense, several talents on the roster confirmed to the media that, although they like Knox, “there is currently strong pressure on him within the company since this was not the first time that something like this has happened and a fighter was not protected .”
