Miesha Tate’s Next Challenger And Fight Date Revealed
The 37-year-old MMA star Miesha Tate has her next fight and it is against another fighter who is coming off a long period of inactivity. In a UFC Fight Night event scheduled for December 2, Tate (19-9 MMA, 6-6 UFC) will face Julia Ávila (9-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC). At the moment the place or venue of the evening has not been confirmed.
Two fighters with knowledge of the fight recently confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. MMA Mania first reported that the fight was underway.
Tate, 37, is a former UFC women’s bantamweight champion. She has not fought since a unanimous decision loss at the hands of Lauren Murphy in July 2022. The fight was Tate’s debut at flyweight and moved her to 1-2 since retiring and returning to competition in 2021. Tate was scheduled to face Mayra Bueno Silva in June but withdrew from the fight for unknown reasons.
Ávila, 35, has not competed since June 2021, as she took time off to give birth to her daughter, who was born in October 2022. Before her maternity leave, Ávila defeated Julija Stoliarenko by choke rear. The win was her third in four promotional outings and her second finals win.
