Nick Khan Believes A shared Draft between WWE and UFC Would Be A Good Idea

1 years ago By Sports Desk

The world of sports and entertainment set a new course a few days ago with the creation of TKO Group Holdings. The new parent company will be in charge of encapsulating the UFC and WWE in the same conglomerate, which has been estimated to have a value of over USD20 billion.

The expectation of several fans towards this union between contact sports companies has remained latent in multiple spaces. The arrival of TKO opened the game of speculation regarding the possibility of seeing UFC stars making the jump to professional wrestling, or well-known WWE talents entering the world of mixed martial arts.

Nick Khan has expressed himself several times regarding the possibility of seeing joint work between both companies tied to TKO. A new example arose in a recent interview, where the president of WWE pointed out the possibility of holding a shared Draft between his company and Dana White’s: “I remember the first NFL Draft when they decided to take it to the New York public and display it ahead of thousands of people,” Khan told The Bill Simmons Podcast.

“If WWE and UFC do something similar together, could we make it work? I think there is a great expectation for something like that.” We already know that WWE holds its Draft practically annually, but its implementation counts as special episodes of RAW and SmackDown and not as an individual event. The UFC does not hold any type of show where cast transfers are marked, which generally occur sporadically throughout the year.

Contrary to what Dana White may think, Nick Khan’s latest statements point to great interest on the part of the WWE president when it comes to generating synergy with the UFC. In the same interview, the authority on the professional wrestling side of TKO expressed his desire to hold “shared weekends” that combine the main cards of the UFC with WWE’s Premium Live Events.
