5 Times When UFC Fighters Got Arrested Following Multiple Allegations Charges

Title: “5 UFC Fighters Who Have Had Run-Ins With the Law: Conor McGregor, Tony Ferguson, and More”

The world of the UFC is renowned for producing some of the toughest and most dedicated athletes in combat sports. These fighters undergo rigorous training to prove themselves in the octagon, striving to become the best in the world. However, like all individuals, they are not immune to legal troubles. In this article, we delve into the lives of five UFC fighters who have had their fair share of encounters with the law, shedding light on their off-screen battles.

#5. Tony Ferguson (UFC Lightweight)

Tony Ferguson, a former UFC interim lightweight champion, is a force to be reckoned with in the 155-pound weight class. Known for his remarkable win streak and relentless fighting style, ‘El Cucuy’ has carved his name into MMA history. However, his career took a troubling turn when he was arrested for DUI (driving under the influence) in Hollywood.

In a late-night incident, Ferguson’s pickup truck flipped over near a nightclub, but fortunately, no one was injured. Despite smelling of alcohol, Ferguson refused to take a sobriety test and displayed uncooperative behaviour towards law enforcement. This led to misdemeanour DUI charges and the potential suspension of his driver’s licence.

#4. Nate Diaz (Former UFC Welterweight)

Nate Diaz, a legendary figure in MMA with a cult following, gained worldwide fame after his stunning upset victory over Conor McGregor. His involvement in the influencer boxing scene resulted in a run-in with the law. After throwing a water bottle at Chase DeMoor during a Misfits Boxing event, Diaz was involved in a street brawl.

In this altercation, Diaz choked out a man resembling Logan Paul, Rodney Petersen, which prompted the New Orleans Police Department to issue an arrest warrant. Diaz later turned himself in and was arrested before being released on bond, with a court hearing scheduled for June 27.

#3. Jorge Masvidal (Former UFC Welterweight)

Jorge Masvidal, known as the ‘BMF’ champion, announced his retirement from MMA after a series of losses. His rivalry with Colby Covington turned personal, and they faced off at UFC 272. After a one-sided loss to Covington, Masvidal didn’t seek a rematch in the octagon.

Instead, he took matters into his own hands, attacking Covington outside a steakhouse and chipping his teeth before fleeing. This led to Masvidal’s arrest in Miami for assault. The incident divided opinions, with some fighters criticising Covington for pressing charges.

#2. Conor McGregor (UFC Lightweight)

Conor McGregor, arguably the most famous UFC fighter in history, has had several encounters with the law. These range from driving without a licence to allegations of sexual assault. However, one of his most notorious arrests followed his involvement in the bus attack at the Barclays Centre.

McGregor and his associates threw objects at a bus transporting fellow fighters, causing injuries and leading to the withdrawal of fighters from scheduled bouts. He was arrested in New York and faced multiple charges, including assault, criminal mischief, menacing, and reckless endangerment.

#1. Jon Jones (UFC Heavyweight Champion)

Jon Jones, the reigning UFC heavyweight champion, is no stranger to legal troubles. Throughout his career, Jones has faced numerous arrests and controversies. He has been arrested for driving while intoxicated and even on domestic violence charges. His infamous arrest involved a hit-and-run incident in 2015.

Jones allegedly ran a red light, colliding with two vehicles, one of which contained a pregnant woman who was injured. He fled the scene but returned to retrieve money before fleeing again. Subsequently, he was arrested, stripped of his light heavyweight title, removed from the UFC rankings, and suspended.

While UFC fighters are celebrated for their dedication to the sport and their skills inside the octagon, they are also humans and prone to legal issues outside of it. The lives of Tony Ferguson, Nate Diaz, Jorge Masvidal, Conor McGregor, and Jon Jones serve as stark reminders that even the most fearless fighters can find themselves on the wrong side of the law. These incidents reflect the complexities of human nature and the challenges that come with fame and success in the world of mixed martial arts.
