Breaking: Paul Craig To Make Second Middleweight Outing Against Brendan Allen In November

10 months ago By Sports Desk

Paul Craig is set to make his second outing as a middleweight at UFC Vegas 82 on November 18. ‘Bear Jew’ is booked against fast-rising contender Brendan Allen in the main event for the Fight Night card. Craig will be looking to extend his win streak after beating Andre Muniz on his 185-pound debut at UFC Fight Night 224.

Prior to his victory against Muniz, Craig was on a two-fight losing streak as a light heavyweight contender. The Scottish fighter dropped a decision against Volkan Oezdemir at UFC Fight Night 208 before suffering a knockout against Johnny Walker at UFC 283. Following his last loss, Craig decided to move down to middleweight.

Over the course of his UFC career, beginning in March 2017, Paul Craig has faced several world-class opponents. He has recorded wins over light heavyweight stalwarts like Mauricio Rua, Magomed Ankalaev, Nikita Krylov, and Jamahal Hill. Craig’s impressive performances have resulted in him being awarded ‘Performance of the Night’ bonuses eight times.

While Paul Craig was undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with in the light heavyweight division, his last few outings have been particularly harsh for him. During a media scrum at UFC London, Paul Craig stated:

“I was a middleweight pretending to be a light heavyweight.”

Paul Craig Confidently Puts UFC Middleweights On Notice

Paul Craig has set some lofty goals for himself as a middleweight contender in the UFC. After suffering back-to-back losses as a light heavyweight, he returned to winning ways with a second-round knockout over Andre Muniz in his middleweight debut.

The win over Muniz has given Craig some much-needed confidence. After his outstanding performance, ‘Bear Jew’ is ready to take on the top 185-pound contenders. During one of his media day interviews, Paul Craig put his fellow middleweights on serious notice. Calling out the mercurial grappling phenom Bo Nickal, he said:

“You know I love fighting, so I’d love to be back before November… I know Khamzat Chimaev is… fighting in the Abu Dabhi card… Sean Strickland is fighting for the title, I know they are looking for somebody for Bo Nickal… Nobody wants to fight Bo Nickal, he takes me down, and who knows what happens. As a middleweight, I’m a dangerous threat, and the middleweights should be scared.”
