Five WWE Stars Triple H Has Given Up On

4 months ago By Jhon Woug

At any one time, a few stars are ablaze through the ever-evolving landscape of WWE, capturing the fans’ and the top management’s attention. Not all superstars can keep their breakthroughs, sometimes even slipping for the lamest of reasons. This is where Triple H comes as a vital part of WWE’s creative and overall developmental aspect—he would at all times have to make those hard decisions of either picking up or sidelining certain talents. This article will delve into the top five WWE stars whom, it would appear, Triple H gave up on, and what could’ve led to their fall from grace and possibly what it will spell for their careers.

  1. Ricochet: The High-Flyer Grounded

Early Promise and NXT Success

Ricochet entered the NXT scene as an amazing spot-machine with high-flying maneuvers, and he quickly got the whole of Full Sail to notice. He later became the most featured talent on NXT in matches, causing a stir as he became critically acclaimed in the NXT North American Championship reign filled with thrilling performances of his unique abilities.

Ricochet’s early promise was evident in his NXT tenure, where his in-ring prowess and charisma made him a standout performer. His matches were often considered must-see events, and he was touted as a future main roster star.

Main Roster Struggle

When he moved up to the main roster, Ricochet was pushed well at first and even became the United States Champion. Now, it seems as though he has just been stuck in a rut. Time and time again, he has been put in pointless feuds and matches that do nothing for him at all but keep him in the lower-card territory. Ricochet’s struggles in the WWE are indicative of a larger issue: though talented, he has failed to truly resonate with the broader WWE audience, causing him to noticeably fade into the background.

Moving from NXT to that main roster has troubled a lot of performers in that regard, and Ricochet’s experience really does add to that: trying to keep momentum going. High spots and charisma were not enough to translate into ongoing main event opportunities, something soon noticeable in his positioning.

Reasons for the Decline

It was fraught with Ricochet’s decline because he was smaller compared to what is typically a WWE main event star. This serves as a detractive agent to the major part of the audience on the main roster. On top of this, inconsistent booking and lack of compelling storylines have left him reeling from the heights he once attained.

In WWE, size and character often prove a matter of great importance for a performer. Ricochet’s high-maintenance in-ring skills did not prove to be enough for survival, and his lack of well-defined character added even more to the struggle.

  1. Mustafa Ali: The Unfulfilled Potential

Early Career and Cruiserweight Success

Mustafa Ali began his WWE career competing in the Cruiserweight division, where he quickly amassed a cult following for his innovative style and great storytelling. His work in the Cruiserweight Classic and on 205 Live had a lot of high-intensity moments and made him well-liked among a certain contingent. The potential of Ali seemed to be unlimited, with most of the audience predicting a bright future for him on the main roster.

Ali came into the league with some of the most eye-catching and interesting in-ring performances and a great ability to connect with fans. His bouts would often weave an intriguing story, and he quickly became a fan favorite in the Cruiserweight division.

Main Roster Setbacks

Ali got off to a strong start after getting onto the main roster, even landing in a huge rivalry with Daniel Bryan and a spot in the Elimination Chamber. But injuries and poor booking at times brought momentum to a halt. This not only gave Ali a chance to lead Retribution but proved another one who can’t seem to get a foothold in any true quality storylines since and is an example again right now in his recent use.

Injuries and inconsistent booking have been major setbacks in Ali’s career. Flashing the brilliance every now and then, he is unable to really measure a consistent push by the roster, which led to a series of setbacks.

Reasons for the Decline

A lot of factors really contributed to his decline, such as his being injury prone, prompting several hiatuses. Moreover, the saga of Retribution failed to work out appropriately for him and got all tangles for a doomed angle. The lack of clear character directions and meaningful feuds left Ali toiling in the mid-card.

Injuries have significantly stepped on a lot of Ali’s momentum, hindering him from sustaining the thrust in his career. With this Retribution storyline that started off with some degree of upside yet ended up bust, this contributed to his struggle in the main roster.

  1. Shinsuke Nakamura – King Without a Crown

NXT Predominance

Shinsuke Nakamura came to WWE very much with the big reputation from his time in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Nothing short of electrifying, he quickly became a mainstay for the brand. His matches with the likes of Sami Zayn and the aforementioned Finn Balor went down as instant classics and really did help further his cause of being looked at as a wrestling icon.

Nakamura’s NXT journey is one of charisma, unique swagger, and mastery inside the squared circle, very immediately becoming one of the brand’s linchpins through winning memorable matches and captivating the audience.

Main Roster Inconsistencies

If Nakamura was the beacon of the future for NXT, his main roster debut promised much the same, charisma beaming. He would go on to come out victorious in the Royal Rumble and eventually challenge for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania based purely on the enthusiastic reactions he generated. However, the follow-up—in a series of underwhelming feuds—seemed at best, erratic in relation to the talent-filled matches around him; despite formerly holding mid-card gold, Nakamura never managed to fully capitalize on the aura he once held over the NXT locker room.

It’s been a somewhat checkered transition to the main roster for Nakamura. While beginning with early success, like winning the Royal Rumble, inconsistency in booking and a couple of real head-scratcher feuds have kept him from truly asserting himself as a consistent top-tier-level talent.

Reasons for Decline

Under this, there are quite a number of reasons for Nakamura’s downfall. Language barriers and cultural differences have made a problem in fitting well with his connection to the WWE audience, but beyond that, his most pressing issue has also been the inconsistency of handling his character in the long term with meaningful storylines.

Cultural and language barriers have always been great obstacles for Nakamura. Although he’s an in-ring maestro, the lack of exciting storylines and character build-up has been a major limitation in connecting him with the general WWE audience.

  1. Asuka: The Empress in Limbo

NXT Undefeated Streak

Asuka’s arrival in NXT was heralded with an unprecedented undefeated streak. She quickly became one of the most dominant forces in WWE history. Each of her matches rated as one of the best, and she quickly formed a favorite with fans. Asuka’s transition to the main roster proved no different, with capturing multiple championships and delivering seminal performances.

Asuka carved out a career of domination and in-ring excellence during her time in NXT. This undefeated streak contributed to a unique aura around Asuka, setting her up to be one of the most imminent and terrifying competitors in WWE.

Main Roster Rollercoaster
While Asuka initially went on to have tons of success on the main roster, growing the list to also include a SmackDown Women’s Champion and Money in the Bank winner, her booking has gotten incredibly wild. From strong dominant times to mind-boggling losses and complete sideline specialization, it has given ample reason for fans and analysts to scratch their heads on just how sporadically she’s pushed.

Asuka’s main roster run can kindly be said to have had its fair share of peaks and valleys to say the least. The WWE has pushed her through the roof but hasn’t given the Empress of Tomorrow stable booking and a proper, long-term storyline.

Reasons for the Decline

There are a number of factors that have all contributed to Asuka’s fall from grace. Chiefly, it is inconsistent and erratic booking on WWE’s part, coupled with the stop-start pushes, which have always prevented her from featuring on a seriously steady top card. The element of language barriers and script writing has been rather razor-thin for her characters that have not allowed for her character to be carried out in an interesting enough way for her to appeal to a greater peering percentage of people.

One of the major drawbacks in WWE’s booking has been inconsistency. Asuka, with all her talent even from early success, failed to reach her full potential on WWE’s main roster program because of a seared push and engaging storyline.

  1. Cesaro: The Perpetual Underdog

Tag Team Triumphs and Singles Frustrations

Cesaro, known for his incredible strength and technical prowess, has long been considered one of WWE’s most underutilized talents. His success in tag teams, particularly with Sheamus as The Bar, highlighted his in-ring abilities. However, his singles career has been marred by a lack of significant pushes and opportunities, despite consistent fan support. Cesaro is an athlete whose career has always been marked by his prowess in the ring and fans’ enthusiastic support. Although he has succeeded in tag teams, lack of significant pushes and opportunities has always come his way in the singles career.

Main Roster Struggles
Despite many brilliant performances, Cesaro has not been able to make his way to the top of singles action. He has never been out of the mid-card and very rarely has cracked the glass ceiling into championship contention. Many fans and analysts have hoped for a more significant push for Cesaro, but it never seems to come. Many feel that Cesaro’s run on the main roster has really been an exercise in missed opportunities and uneven pushes towards excellence. While equipped with talent, and holding the fans behind him, he has not been able to transcend into being a top singles star.

Causes of Decline
Many factors have been responsible for Cesaro’s underutilization. He has long been noted to be an insufficiently charismatic character and also to lack the vital skills for microphone work. Also, usually in WWE, the emphasis on the roster is placed on larger-than-life characters, leaving technically gifted performers like Cesaro in the shadows. Cesaro has really suffered under this category, with his perceived charisma and lack of mic skills being major setbacks. He is a talented wrestler, but a lack of a defined character and interesting storylines has dented much of his potential on the big platform.

Conclusion
WWE’s practically lost art of building lasting momentum is challenging and complex. Players like Ricochet, Mustafa Ali, Shinsuke Nakamura, Asuka, and Cesaro—all undeniably talented and full of immense potential—have all made it to the main roster at one point but have since found it incredibly hard to barely stay above water amid non-stop wavering pushes, poor character development, and other contributing factors leading up to their dropping stock. While Triple H continues to put in efforts for the bright future of WWE, the fate of these stars is hanging somewhere in time.

A few of them will be reinvigorated with new opportunities as they take on new characters or a new storyline, but others battle on for a prime spot and fair chance. WWE is such a fluctuating environment where nothing is finally cemented, and possibilities for a resurgence are always in the offing. The individual journeys of these five stars remind fans just how unpredictable professional wrestling truly is. Their talent and resolve shine through the adversity of this business and continue to inspire fans, while their contributions to WWE continue to be unforgettable. With a further inevitable surge in the evolution of the wrestling world, one can certainly hope that these performers continue to find their respective spots in the limelight and get to showcase their talent on the biggest stage of all.
