Championship Contenders: Who’s Eyeing the Title Next?

5 months ago By Jhon Woug

The WWE landscape changes so dramatically that title changes happen in the blink of an eye, and contenders emerge from nowhere. As we head into the future, a handful of Superstars seems primed to make significant impacts across multiple championships. Here’s a look at the current champions and a projection of whom you’ll find holding the gold next.

WWE Championship
Current Champ: Cody Rhodes
Prediction for Next Champ: Gunther
The journey that Cody Rhodes has traveled to reach the top of WWE has been nothing short of breathtaking. He holds the title but is already the reigning champion of WWE. However, he has given back the title a touch of glamour coupled with pride. Wrestling is a hub of rumors about whom people can expect to see the next king. One of the great contenders is Gunther. The imposing dominant mean champion Gunther has the credentials to be ruthless, with an imposing presence and breathtaking in-ring style. When that title shift might be is hard to pinpoint since it relies on things such as an inevitable return by The Rock, who might turn out to be a significant player in the SummerSlam storyline. If Rhodes will retain his gold against The Rock, then Gunther would be the one to steal the belt at Bash in Berlin. Also, this weekend marks the return of Randy Orton to the ring, and this goes onto the list of variables that may rewrite the title scene entirely.

WWE Undisputed Women’s Championship
Current Champion: Bayley
Next Champion Prediction: Tiffany Stratton
Bayley has shown poise and resolve throughout her run as WWE Undisputed Women’s Champion. Will she be able to fend off all comers, as the 2024 WWE Draft looms just days away now? It’s evident that Tiffany Stratton has positioned herself as probably going to take that title from Bayley, either directly or by winning through a chance with a Money in the Bank contract—increasing fan favor and big wins to solidify her place. To date, Stratton has been given an increasing number of opportunities for the title, and she is yet to be denied.

WWE Women’s World Championship
Current Champion: Liv Morgan
Prediction for Next Champion: Rhea Rhipley
Liv Morgan’s victory over Rhea Ripley, with her championship win against Becky Lynch, has shaped what has felt like a prominent title reign for her. But the return of Rhea Ripley does matter. Now that she’s healthy and ready to compete, she will likely grab her title back, forcing Morgan to start the process all over and build her legacy by facing any other challengers. Meanwhile, Ripley’s return sets up a perfectly fitting closing for this dramatic situation.

Current WWE Intercontinental Championship Holder: Sami Zayn
Next Champion prediction: Chad Gable
Sami Zayn has had a run as Intercontinental Champion that has been all about resilience and guile. This WrestleMania might see a changing of the guard regarding this title if Chad Gable is groomed as his replacement. Chad Gable is the complete package, technically able, a fan favorite, and should be able to make the perfect foil for Zayn. But post-WrestleMania 32, let’s see what happens.

WWE United States Championship
Current Champion: Logan Paul
Prediction for Next Champion: LA Knight
Logan Paul is a pretty young United States Champion and has had some very high-profile defenses, including Kevin Owens and Randy Orton. LA Knight, however, is considered the probable heir of the champion since he has a lot of charisma and in-ring talent – one of the best to be next in line to champions. Though Owens and Orton are also front runners, the prediction is inclined towards LA Knight and even includes Bron Breakker as one of the possibilities.

WWE World Tag Team Championship
Current Champions: Awesome Truth (The Miz & R-Truth)
Prediction for Next Champions: The Creed Brothers
The tag team championship is waiting to witness a new face, and holding the World Tag Team Championship is The Miz & R-Truth. The Creed Brothers with Chad Gable would symbolize the next big thing in the tag team wrestling scene. A massive heel turn and the formation of a new version of Team Angle indicate a huge threat set up against the champions.

NXT Championship
Current Champion: Trick Williams
Who I think will be the next champions: Lexis King or Josh Briggs
Trick Williams’ reign as the NXT Champion is set for a long haul, with Lexis King and Josh Briggs at the front of the line for a championship shot. After all, the 2024 WWE Draft could also influence this match in which new entrants fill the slots on the NXT Roster, changing this divisional landscape altogether.

NXT Women’s Championship
Current Champion: Roxanne Perez
Prediction for Next Champion: Giulia
Roxanne Perez is the current reigning NXT Women’s Champion. Her reign has been quite dominant. Giulia would set one imposing case to be succeeded in terms of her excellent skills and persona. Anything else than a win for her would surprisingly be unexpected, seeing how her career has recently picked up.

NXT Tag Team Championship
Current Champions: The Supersonic Duo (Axiom & Nathan Frazer)
Prediction for Next Champions: Authors of Pain
Immediately after their victory, The Supersonic Duo faced a challenge from Authors of Pain. With a clear-cut moment of attack already made, AOP is the most straightforward prediction to make, even if it strays far from creativity regarding the storyline.

NXT UK Heritage Cup
Current Champion: Tony D’Angelo
Prediction for Next Champion: Ridge Holland
The current holder of the NXT UK Heritage Cup, Tony D’Angelo, at this point, everything can happen with this championship. But, finally, Ridge Holland appears to be the next champion, although the paradigm of this championship is entirely indeterminate after Charlie Dempsey’s terrible series.

With WWE constantly changing, these predictions offer a quick tease of what could be on the way for its titles. The excitement and unpredictability of WWE remain as captivating as ever, with new storylines and contenders.
